Don't be sad. She's young yet. It's very normal.. it's just easier for babies to form the "ba" and "da" sounds than "ma".

My mom and I were just talking about this the other night when my toddler had run around ALL DAY screaming "Mommy". She put it best when she said "I waited all this time for you to say mama since you always said dada and loved dada. Then when you did say it, that's all you would say. It kinda drives you nuts." LOL

ikno, she's been saying 'dada' since she's 5-6mos., then she did say 'mama' last week, for two days but then she forgot and now she's only saying dada, dida, lala, alla and other words..

Re: DD wont say 'MAMA.."

Don't worry, mama.

DD said "dada" first...of course she was our first child and I had the dreams of my baby saying "mama" first. I don't remember how old she was when she finally did say it. DS said "mama" first...mostly because I wanted a child of ours to say it first so I "practiced" with him

I guess what I'm saying is that it's easy to get worried about it at the time but she'll end up saying both eventually and like Kimmomy2dom said, you'll eventually have a toddler that says/cries/yells your name all day long and you'll wonder why you ever taught it to them.

im sure she will.. i just cant wait..
im so jealous because when she says dada, she doesnt say it because she knows how to say it, she looks at her dad and says dada.. and it makes me cry because she reaches for me and doesnt say anything when she wants me..

Re: DD wont say 'MAMA.."

Sadly it is normal for kids to day Dada or Dad first. When my 4th son was a baby, my hubby was gone for 8 months. Well, his first word ended up being his baby sister's name but guess what the second one was. Daddy. Seriously, talk about just wrong. I was the one alone taking care of the kid for 8 months and his Dad comes home and after a week he's saying Dad. Totally stunk.
