Carrying a boy in a girly carrier?

Does it make a difference when they are newborn, really? if it is pretty sling that matches your outfit. Or does it need to be more GN if it is a boy?

Re: Carrying a boy in a girly carrier?

I have a boy, and I have never thought that it has to be less girly. I'm not girly to begin with so most of my stuff is gender neutral anyway, but I did just order a floral print BH and thought nothing of it. I tend to think of baby carriers as the mother's accessory, not the baby's.

I've got a gorgeous pink silk wrap, and if this babe is a boy, I'll be wrapping him all up in pink

To me the carrier is about the parent, not the child, though my carriers are all pretty GN.

I dont really care what color/pattern the carrier is or isnt.. same goes for a nursing cover. I agree with the other mama's. Since its more of an accessory for you, use whatever you would like. DH loved the color pink when he was little lol....but I didnt tell you that.

Wear whatever you like. No matter if the carrier is gender specific, people will always call your little one by the wrong gender. I have a baby girl and started out with a lot of pink, but since then I've expanded to more blue and grey. She gets called a boy all the time, but I really don't care. Wear what makes you happy and comfortable.

IMO the carrier is as much for you as the baby. If you like the girly stuff....you're the one wearing it!

Re: Carrying a boy in a girly carrier?

You know, when I bought my first baby carrier, I thought the color was for me, not baby I did end up buying a blue wrap, but then I bought a brown and pink sling. I would love to have the cranberry Ergo, or the pink Ergo, and I have 2 boys, no girls.

I just got a pink Ergo, and I have 2 boys. I really liked the pink one better than any other.
