My twins are a little over 2 months old. In the NICU, they let me know that they really preferred the bottle and pretty much refused to nurse. So I've been exclusive pumping and then supplementing with formula.

Samuel was already done eating. So I was finishing with David and he was still hungry. So I figured I might as well see if he'll nurse before I head upstairs to get some formula. He nursed!!!! He took to the breast right away and when he was finished, he pulled away.

I'm so happy! I'm going to see if his brother will nurse and then try and see if I can work on getting them to feed exclusively from the breast.

I'm so excited for you!! Isn't it an amazing feeling when you have been working so hard and it suddenly works!! Just be prepared for possible set backs. It's possible, next time around he won't do as well, but I would definitely keep trying. He can obviously do it!

(Joshua was this way. Great one nursing and not so great the next, but he's great at it now.

)Maybe after a few practice runs you can try to get him on the breast before the bottle and see what happens. Yay, David!!! One down, one to go.

My first was a NICU baby and never nursed

But my next two babies did great. I'm so happy for you mama
