Okay, YDD was born on 3/12 - and I am still experiencing postpartum bleeding. Yes, I may go a day or two here or there...but, I also gush a bunch here and there ... and it has been CONSTANT since she was born. I had a placental abruption that brought her here (early - due 4/15) and she is doing fine. Should I be concerned? Please answer... I am going out of my mind. I am severely anemic too - and my blood looks to have other issues...

Re: Anyone ELSE still bleeding?
I would definetly mention it to your doc/midwife. PP bleeding doesn't usually last this long, could be a bit of retained placenta.

Re: Anyone ELSE still bleeding?
I really think it is. It is really scaring me. I was told that anything up through 12 weeks could be considered "normal" but this is now my 13th week PP with Naomi (3/12 DOB). I had a placental abruption and her delivery was extremely fast to say the least. It was an emergency "her head is out and rush down the hall to the OR" -- my doc never got there. IF there was a #5 I would have a MW for sure...I'm high risk so I didn't have one this time...but my overpaid over egomaniac high risk OB never got there...

I hope this comes off as a compliment but you sorta look like Sarah Palin. (I think she is pretty)

My guess would be a piece of retained placenta also. I would call your doc and have it checked out. I've read that bleeding can be normal up to 12 weeks. But since you are still having gushes, I would be a little more concerned.

Re: Anyone ELSE still bleeding?
Yeah, that's what's bothering me too - it isn't like AF has returned...no time at all between what should have been lochia and AF...it is like constant from her birth with heavier flow and clots and then lighter days...but constant! I see the doc on July 1.

Re: Anyone ELSE still bleeding?
Okay - it is 15 weeks now and I still haven't stopped. Earliest I can get in to new gynie is 7/1. See, I was high risk and I only have a family doc...my high risk guy doesn't want to see me for "female issues" just pregnancy...and my family doc won't touch this (just yearly paps and normal things). I have started to swell bad (I look even BIGGER than when I did while pregnant) and have horrible headaches too. It's a little (a lot?) scary. Probably got some placenta stuck in there, festering...and I will probably need a D & C. Has anyone had one? What are they like? I EBF and I don't want to be away from YDD or not be able to feed her. Scared here.

Re: Anyone ELSE still bleeding?
I had a d&c for a miscarriage in April 09 and they put me under general for it so it will affect nursing. Other than that, the procedure is not too bad physically. It's quick and the pain is not too bad. Just make sure to take it easy for 3 or 4 days after it's done so you don't cause yourself to bleed more. I took it easy for a day and then was up and on the move for a couple days and ended up having to spend another day taking it easy because I made myself bleed more.
