Third Trimester - What do you do?

Since we're heading into (or already into) our 3rd trimester, I was curious to know what kind of changes you make to prepare for L&D? (diet, exercises, etc.)

Re: Third Trimester - What do you do?

Intentionally - I up my Pregnancy Tea intake, and drink 3-4 cups a day. Because I have reason to suspect that I have scar tissue on my cervix (not related to Henry's birth) I am going to start taking EPO (Evening Primrose Oil) orally around 30 weeks, and then I'll start taking it orally and vaginally at 36 weeks. I stop taking a Vitamin E supplement around 34 weeks, because its a natural blood thinner. I take a prenatal with some in it, but not enough to be harmful. I also up my calcium intake during the 3rd trimester by drinking Eggshell Water and taking more in supplement form.

Unintentionally - I have apparently lost my taste for sweets/candy/cookies and American cheese. The third trimester seems to bring about strange shifts in my tastebuds.

I ordered my Rescue Remedy the other day, and I'll start making birth tinctures sometime around 36 weeks. I am also going to make an infusion of comfrey and I'm-not-sure-what-else-yet and soak some preemie prefolds in them and freeze them. Something soothing to sit on after the birth, just in case. I probably won't do that until around 38 weeks, since I have a tiny freeze and plan to go "overdo".

i did rrl tea starting around 30 weeks with Lor but only 1-2 cups a day. I also did epo vaginally at 36 weeks and probably will again. I do lots of kegals and exercises to make sure baby is/stays head down. That's about it.

Not a thing My body knows what it needs to do.

Only thing I'm stressing over is being prepared mentally & physically (by that I mean staying active) and having all of our stuff ready (gear / nursery).

I'll be stalking this thread to get some ideas though.. maybe you ladies can help make the last 12 weeks or so manageable and the recovery a little less hellish.

Re: Third Trimester - What do you do?

I upped my intake of alfalfa when I hit the 3rd trimester. I was taking 3 tablets a day already and I upped it to 6. It's a galactagogue (helpful for maintaining my milk supply, since DD is still nursing frequently) and is high in vitamin K which is helpful for preventing postpartum hemorrhage and excessive bleeding. I didn't take alfalfa with DS's pregnancy and bled for 6 weeks; I did take it with DD's pregnancy and only bled for 10 days (most of which was just mild spotting).

Re: Third Trimester - What do you do?

RRL tea a cup or two a day, hands and knees rocking to keep baby in non posterior position at bed time and during the day when I think about it (hand mopping the floor is a good thing too), trying to up my calcium uptake, stay away from sweets, get my daily nap in(!!!), oh and listening to my hypnobabies affirmations and relaxation tapes.

Oh and reading LOTS of birth stories...getting excited about birth!

I'm with Cheli-making it through the rest of the summer with my sanity basically intact. I will probably start flipping through my Bradley Childbirth classs book, but I am not really doing anything different.
