I always just knocked the poop off as best i could. No scraping or spraying for me. I just didn't wanna get that close and personal with the poop. Sorry! Adding water to your pail is probably just going to be a bigger hassle than it is worth. And i'd imagine it would kinda smell worse too. I kept a large tupperware bin for my "pail" It can be anything, doesn't have to be a specific diaper pail or wetbag specific for cloth diapering. I used this bin bc i had it around the house already. It had a lid on it but the lid had a big vent in it as well on the sides where the handles were. A completely closed lid would cause more of a smell. The ventilation is a GOOD thing. I washed every third day generally. Good luck, and try not to make things tougher on yourself by coming up with a complicated process.
