Does this really work?
I really would LOVE for DD to be potty trained by 2 years old. I have so many that doubt that it can be done.
DD will be 15 months on July 7th. So far she has been pooping on the potty for 2 weeks. (Minus 2 days where she pooped during her nap) Basically, when she looks like she is about to poop I run her to the potty and she goes!! yay! (So much easier to clean up this way lol) I dont even know where to start to get the ball rolling with this! I have no idea when she pee's....she just goes! Do I bring her a certain times? Also...can I hear some success stories. Anyone on here have any FULLY potty trained LO's due to EC? THANKS!

Re: Does this really work?
I love that picture on your avatar
![]() Are you using a cue sound? Would you be willing to just let her go diaper-free a few times? That way you could see when she went and you could cue her. Also she would be aware of when she pees more than having a diaper on. I've only been doing this for 5 months, but I am confident that Claire will be using the potty on her own way before 2 years. It's definitely possible!

Re: Does this really work?
I'm so glad you asked this I've been wondering too, my DS is only 2 months so we have some time, but I can already tell when he is having a BM and have been tempted to just hold him over an open diaper. He hates to be wet, so I know pretty much when he pees, I don't want him to get comfortable in a wet/dirty dipe because I figure not liking it will help us potty learn.

Re: Does this really work?
Diaper free is a great idea to learn her pee cues, especially if you can be outside in warm weather. Another great way to learn pee cues is to is by having your DD in a non-waterproof diaper or trainer. That way you will be able to see right away when she goes, but will keep a big mess off the floor if you are inside or don't want her naked.
You can also bring her to the potty for pees at typical times, like in the morning when she wakes, right after naps and maybe a certain amount of time after meals. Although many babies are fully potty trained by 2 years old or earlier due to EC, many others aren't so try not to have that be the expectation or you may feel very frustrated if your child takes longer. I full time EC'd my DS from 5 weeks on and he wasn't fully daytime potty trained until 2.5 years. Along the journey, though, we would have nice stretches were he had no misses and we could leave the house without a change of clothes. But they have such independent streaks sometimes around 2 years that they just don't want to bothered by pottying! Even if the journey takes longer for some people than they would hope for, it's still an awesome adventure in communication, and LOTS less poopy diapers to clean throughout their life makes it totally worth it!

Re: Does this really work?
I started EC with YDD @ 8 months. She is 14 months now and spends 90% of her day in Potty Patty Panties. I love them because they fit
and they have the extra layers where she needs it in case of accidents. She is by no means FULLY Potty learned, but we are getting there. She still will try to not use the potty when she is playing or when we go outside to play. I do recommend the going naked bit of advice. It really helps your LO become aware of their bodily functions. YDD would cry when she wet herself, she hated it but it really helped her learn to catch herself and signal that she has to go. We never had a cue sound like some do. I just knew from her faces when she had to go. When we started I would just put her on the potty after she woke up in the morning, and shortly after that (she likes to pee twice in the mornings usually 10-15 min apart) and then we would go every 15-20 min after that. Now that she is older, she still goes 2x back to back in the morning and then I take her every 30 min if she hasn't signaled that she has to go. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't. If she doesn't I wait 10 more min and try again and that usually works. She recently got over being real sick for 3 weeks with vomiting and diarrhea from a virus and then horrible diarrhea from teething right after, so she spent most of her time in diapers. So we are sorta relearning the potty but she still signals most days and she will pick her panties over her cloth any day ![]() We do public potty use as well. She has a foldable potty seat that I take everywhere we go. She doesn't leave the house in panties yet though, but she does get to play outside in them. Everyone in my family thinks it is the greatest thing and always ask how she is doing with the potty Grandma loves to brag about her granddaughter using the potty too. Oh and being potty learned by 2 does happen My ODD started using the potty all by herself the day before she turned 2 and we started her at 15 months

Re: Does this really work?
It definitely works! My LO isn't fully trained yet, but at the rate he's progressing it will definitely be before he's 2, barring any major setbacks. I highly recommend a portable potty seat, the Kalencom Potette is sold at Babies R Us, that's what I've started using now that DS is big enough to be on the "real" potty, and it has the option of being used with a liner instead of being on the big potty.
I also LOVE using sign language with EC, DS recently started signing back "toilet" and it has definitely improved our catch ratio since he can now communicate the need to go.

Re: Does this really work?
So...yesterday and this morning, so far, I have let DD go diaper less. I bring her to the potty every 30 minutes and she hates just sitting there!
So far all 3 times I have let her go diaper free she has peed on the floor! lol I can tell you that I have learned she pee's right after she wakes up and pee's pretty much each hour. We will stay on it! I def want to invest in some sort of undies. I dont like her bare bottom touching everything lol Thank ladies!

Re: Does this really work?
We started at 3 months and my lo was out of diapers day and night at 22 months, so right before 2. It was amazing!
