toddler travel toys

I need suggestions for toys or other things to keep in the car/diaper bag that have maximum entertainment value. MY son is 21 months old.

I have crayons and a couple of books in the bag and nothing really in the car right now.

What do you have in your car/bag that your dc loves?

My son is only 14 months, but I keep a little bag with a few blocks, a small ball, a stuffed animal, and a book that has different textures.

We have lots of car toys, but only because when ds needs them we are usually in the car for 6+ hrs.....ds is just about 22m and we have a magnadoodle (small one), couple cars, a soft ball or 2 (different sizes), musical books, quite books, crayons, color book, pen, paper, a couple blocks, umm whatelse (we just have a small basket that fits next to his carseat and he grabs what he wants out of it to play with.

DD's favorite travel toy is her "quiet book". It's got buttons, snaps, zippers, velcro, texture and more.....Keeps her very busy, and she's 20 months old.

where do you get this kind of book? this sounds great!

DS is 15-16 months and loves his soft photo book and anything that spins (like wheels on a car, or a small airplane with a propeller). my backup is an empty water bottle, i always seem to have one in the front seat
