Maggots AND mold!!!! GROSS! Help!

I've already done a big search on here and read lots of threads of mamas talking about their experiences with finding maggots in diapers. This is the first time it's happened to me, but what's worse is that this particular poopy diaper is covered in mold AND infested with maggots. SO DISGUSTING! I've been going a few days between washings (okay, okay, three or four!) because of morning sickness and it's just the last thing I want to deal with. But now I will definitely go back to washing every other day! Anyway, my question is, can this diaper be salvaged? It's one of my favorites and more expensive diapers (a BG organic AIO). Help!

Yes! You can save it just wash it by itself and strip it! Then line dry it to get the stains out and to kill any extra bacteria still lingering. Then I would wash it again and line dry it again. Maybe use some Bac-Out in the wash too to kill everything.

I'd wash it in hot with a tinsey bit of bleach!

First spray off what you can in the toilet (or dunk and swish). Then do a rinse cycle on cold to get even more off. Do a wash on hot with your detergent. Then do another full was on hot with a little bleach or vinegar or bac-out (something to disinfect). Light wash on hot to get out all detergents. Then I'd dry it on hot in the dryer to kill anything that was left. Then, because I'm paranoid, I'd probably repeat the process again LOL

I've gone 4-5 days between washes before without mold or maggots - do you use a wetbag or open pail or something? I have a pail with a locking lid, maybe that's why I don't have problems?

I'd take it outside and spray it with the hose and then wash a bunch in hot w/ tto and vin.

I was wondering this too...I have gone a while without washing and have not had a problem (knock on wood) I am wondering if the issue is it is summer?? I know our air is out right now and I have been keeping a small can upstairs but everything gets dumped into the cool basement laundry room at least once a day.

Both of mine have swing lids

OMG I've never had that happen. However I'm so getting a diaper pail now because I'm scared. I usually just leave them in their own basket in the basement. eek!
