training pants
We've been ECing with our son since birth but he wears cloth diapers and we have lots of misses. I am looking for some new diapers for him because he has almost outgrown everything we have. I thought it would be a good chance to get something a bit better for ECing. I was about to buy large sandy's but was wondering if there is something else you would recommend that would work as well and be cheaper for a giant 4 month old.
ETA: we don't necessarily need something really absorbant as these would be for at home when the misses are just enough to make a little wet spot on the diapers we are currently using. We have other diapers for more absorbancy when we are slacking off with the ECing. Last edited by Jana14; 07-12-2010 at 02:11 PM. |

Re: training pants
Simply inserts + prefold belt from the EC Store! Or make your own.

Re: training pants
Great question. Our little guy is still in cloth diapers and we have lots of "misses" at 12 weeks but I will hopefully transition to training pants in a couple months. I'll keep an eye out for any further advice.

Re: training pants
I sewed my own cotton fitteds using velcro to fasten, but then later switching to snaps (bought snap pliers). Those worked great for us, no need for pins and I could tell when we had a miss easy (because I never put a cover on at home). They were easy to put on once DS started standing too and he hated laying down for diaper changes. And super quick to get off.
Like PP said, a prefold with prefold belt. I've never used a prefold belt, but have heard great things about them. You could also do a prefold with pins if you're quick with them. I wasn't, so after we started EC at 5 months, I didn't use the prefolds much anymore. I even wanted to use flats because of the quick drying aspect, but those also took way too much time for me to put on. |

Re: training pants
I have customers use my size sm on infants with great appriciation. They are pull up style and FOE can be made to fit your baby. I can make them with or without PUL and as many layers of absorbency as you need.
