Covers for larger newborns

DD was 9.9 lbs at birth and my doc expects this one to be no less than 8.5. I plan to just use prefolds and covers on my new one then go straight to my flips. What is a good cover to buy?

Thirsties xs are pretty roomy as far as nb covers go, or you could try the thirsties size 1 duos which are adjustable. DO NOT get BSB xs...they are super duper tiny.

Re: Covers for larger newborns

I think either sized Thirsties (not the duos) or Bummis would be your best bet. My youngest DD was 8lb 9oz at birth and was BORN w/ super-chunk thighs I liked the sized Thirsties the best - the duos worked fine but are definitely a trimmer cover - I had to unsnap the rise all the way before she even reached 12 lbs in order to accommodate those rolls. But she was able to still wear the XS Thirsties cover that I had for a while longer.

Oh, I should add that the Bummis super brite cover I had was a size small - it fit great, but I only used it after her cord stump healed.

i would say no to the bummis newborn. my ds was 8lbs 3oz, and it NEVER fit him. however the super brites small size fit till he was about 6 months

My Dd was 9lbs 1 oz and we used the prorap newborns, then went into Thirsties size 1 and Small Thirsties when the cord area was ready.

DS was 8 lb 11 oz at birth, and 9 pounds by 4 days old. Thirsties and Imse Vimse Wool have been excellent.

He's probably very near 12 pounds now, is currently on my lap with a bulky GMD medium flat plus hemp doubler under the XS Thirsties, and there's no problem at all!

I love Imse Vimse! They have a generous cut!

I recommend the Thirsties, sized xs small too. You could probably get away with 4-6 of these. If you have large babies you won't need them for long before you have to move into the small size.

I loved the Imse Visme preemie size even for my 8.5 lber. It fit him for a few weeks, maybe to 10 or 11 lbs?
