Rash

My DD has a rash. She wears a sposie at night. We had been using butt paste at night but it seems as if it's hurting her. I've heard coconut oil works really well and want to give it a try. I would rather keep her in cloth during the day. Is there a way I can use the coconut oil and cloth? We use fleece liners. Would I need to wash the liners separately/differently?

Re: Rash

does the butt paste have zinc oxide in it? those types always made my baby cry! i think it stings the already irritated skin. we used a&d. it's very soothing.
if you want something more natural, there's badger baby balm, or magic stick. i've used them and they seem good. i've heard really good things about cj's butter, too.

Re: Rash

I use coconut oil w/CDs and have no issues, even when I slather it onto DS when he's about to wear a diaper w/suede cloth or microfleece inner. No need to wash separately I want to suggest that going cover-less or wearing a breathable cover like wool or fleece, instead of PUL, can help w/rashes.

Re: Rash

Yeah, the butt paste never did anything for DS (we only used it before we started CDing, so we never worried about getting it on the cloth). I really like the Northern Essence balm -- that's cloth safe. I've also heard good things about CJ's, but haven't tried it because I've discovered that the most effective solution is to let him go diaper-free for a few minutes after each diaper change. Hey, it's free, it's all natural, and it's seriously the FASTEST way to get a diaper rash to heal
