Has anyone used the My Father's World cirriculum for homeschooling?

Specifically the kindergarten?

Thanks

Fun but too light for my girls. It took less than 30 min/day total and they were bored.

We used MFW K for pre-K with my son and we really enjoyed it.

We've used MFW K and ADV and this year are using First and ECC. K is really light, true. I think of it as more of a preschool year. IF your Ker knows his letters and sounds, can write them fairly well for a Ker, and can blend C-v-C words (CAT BAT ect) failry well then you can do one of two things, go with K with the knowledge that you may finish it really early and then start first later in the year OR just jump into first. K is a fun year! I think its great for a four year old OR if done double time for a 5yo who knows his letters. Its short on purpose because they want your 5yo to be 5! David Hazell said that they are only little once. So its supposed to be easy and short for them. This is also nice for a first year HSer because HSing takes a half hour to an hour and then you can go with life as usual.

What is ADV?

Here is what he knows:
Colors
numbers
Can count to 15
Recognizes letters
Knows most of the sounds
can spell a few words (thank you word world!)
knows shapes
has really good problem solving skills

The MFW K sounds great for my 2 1/2 yr old actually, he recognizes most of his letters. He'll bring me magnet letters and say " 'ook mommy, SSSSSSSS mommy...SSSSSSS"

God bless!

We're using it for K right now. It is a little light on the academics in the beginning, but increases as the year progresses. I actually wanted something more hands-on and less academic, so its perfect for us.

We used MFW 1st grade and although it was too light for us, we liked it. I just wish it was a little more advanced...

Can he write well? K has alot of writing practice and short stories at the end. It also has lots of great science activities, bible/character themes.. I think it will be easy on some parts but good for him/them.. It would be great if you did it with both sorta..

ADV...sorrry that is Adventures the booster year between 1st and the 5 year cycle. Its meant for the oldest child to grow a year before jumping into the cycle. We really love MFW... If you have the cash to do it I'd do K at your oldests pace. If he's bored do two days in a day.. and when he hits a road block then slow it down. For my 5yo we did the phonics portion ONLY in 3 months. But he's a smartie pants. We are taking 1st slower and are prepared to take breaks when he hits a rough patch.

We're planning to use MFW for ds when he's ready for K I love that it looks gentle and hands-on
