Chicken and dumpling recipes?

I am making a slow cooker whole chicken tonight and I want to make broth from it tonight and use the left over meat for chicken and dumplings tomorrow. I want a good recipe that does NOT use pre made baking mixes like Bisquick. I want to make them from scratch.

I love this recipe http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/reci...mplings-recipe I've made it many times and it always gets rave reviews. You could just sub your cooking liquid and leftover chicken in for the broth and chicken breasts.

1/2 cup crisco
2 cups flour
cold water, add a bit at a time until you can roll it out on a flour surface
salt and pepper


roll out about 1/4 in thick and cut in long strips and add to boiling water or chicken broth, cook at lease 15 minutes, dumpings will turn white ish and taste done.

Add cooked chicken (shredded) 1 cup milk and 1/4 cup butter to broth, season and eat,

YUMMY< this recipe has been in my family for 4 generations, my daddy's grand mother Reagan made it for him, back when his phone number was 2 shorts and a long! hehe
