How Long Can I Wait . . .

for my first OB appointment? This is #3 for us and I seriously hate OB appointments. I won't be 5 weeks until Wednesday, but do you think I could wait until 10 or 12 weeks to even start the process?

I have had terrible morning sickness with my previous pregnancies, so if I get to the point that I need medicine I will have to go in earlier (unless my regular doctor will prescribe, hmm, might have to try that route), but I'd really like to wait as long as possible.

So what do you think. Suck it up and get things going or can I wait a bit.

Re: How Long Can I Wait . . .

My OB didn't even care to see me until week 12 (i called at 4 weeks!) so I would wait. I hate them too, esp. this early.

ETA: My friend's OB wanted a proof of preg. visit the day she called (5ish weeks) so I guess every dr. is diff.

I was never able to get an OB appt before then anyways, b/c I had to wait on referrals, etc. The last doc I saw refused to see anyone before 8 weeks.

Ours has women wait until 12ish weeks unkless they have a past history that indicates they need to come in sooner.

Re: How Long Can I Wait . . .

I think if I called now they would set me up with an appointment to be seen around 8 weeks to be tested and do a trans-vag ultrasound to match up dates. Probably the next appointment after that would be a month later at around 12 week. I'm thinking I'll wait and call around 12 weeks. We'll see, I might cave and do it early. If I start getting really sick then we'll have to tell everyone anyway and maybe then I'll want to go ahead and see the bean.

My first prenatal appt is Wednesday I'll be about 27 weeks. I don't see why you couldn't wait a while!

Re: How Long Can I Wait . . .

I was seen in a few weeks with the nurse practitioner to do a preg test, blood draw, and medical history and a pap. It just depends on the dr. I don't think it would be that big of a deal to wait.

You can wait, just take prenatals.
I called my midwife and went in to see her at 4 weeks 4 days, just because she is awesome. I don't care for OBs either.
