pul pocket diapers, what do you use to strip if stink

SO if you aren't supposed to use bleach on pul or vinegar, what do you do with them when they stink? I know you can bleach or use vinegar on inserts, but what about the diaper itself?? Also, can you boil them, or is the really hot water not good for them either?

I've read where BG says occasional bleach usage is ok.

BTW, the last time I had stink, I rocked a soak overnight for 2 nights in a row, then I did 5 rinses. I had one absolutely retched dipe and it was fresh by the final rinse.

I usually through the diapers in a laundry sink with rockin' green and let it soak for an afternoon and I'll wash the inserts with bleach in the washing machine at the same time. Then I just throw everything into the washing machine together and do a wash without detergent. They come out smelling perfectly like nothing!

I've had the fleece linning of pockets get a farm stench, rubbing in a little dishoap got it out. Never happened again.

What is RLR? and where do i find it? Also, I heard letting your PUL soak for too long, like overnight is not good for them and causes more wear and tear then regular everyday usage??? is that true"? there are so many rules!! I can't remember them all, its so confusing!

Re: pul pocket diapers, what do you use to strip if stink

I've used Rockin Green to do an overnight soak on a bunch of diapers (PUL and fleece lined pockets included) and it worked great. Rockin Green is totally cloth diaper safe. I think that doing an overnigt soak all the time is not good, but every once in a while should be fine. Hopefully if you find the right routine and detergent for your machine and your water the overnight soaks won't be needed very often!

There's a lot of conflicting advice about chlorine bleach, even between different manufacturers. My take on it is that it should be reserved for extreme circumstances (like yeast and bacterial diaper rashes) and as a last resort. Oxygen bleach (which Rockin Green contains) is generally considered safe fo cloth diapers of all kinds and will yield similar results when used to strip diapers.

Hope that helps!
