I was in much the same place, and have tried everything under the sun. Honestly, unless your "money no object" includes hiring a laundry lady, prefolds are still one of the best things to buy. I do love having some squishy fitteds in the early weeks, when the laundry routine is still easy, but after that I only like prefolds and just a few pockets or AIOs for overnight. You can go hog-wild on wool and fancy fitteds, which are beautiful, but in the end they are a pain in the rump.

If you get anything requiring a cover, the Blueberry covers are much better than Thirsties, IMO. Get some of the small weehuggers and then the one size coveralls.

I tried lil joeys and wanted to love them so badly. Unfortunately my son either peed out the top of them or they leaked EVERY time. We ended up LOVING our Small Bottombumpers. They hold SO much pee, are super trim and work from about 7lbs and are still fitting well on my 12lb 3 month old. I'm guessing they will probably still work for many more months. Best part is they are AI2, dry quickly (almost dry out of washer), are organic, and arent all that expensive, retail at around 19. They also have a new one sized coming out on September 1 which I am super duper excited about. We also have some major love for bum genius organic. They would be the way to go if you are expecting a large infant. Either way, both diapers are great for newborn AND beyond. (I hate the idea of having to buy separate sets of diapers)

So glad you love it, i love them too

And, yep, I do Nb in side snap or aplix for my bamboo ai2s with a snap down for the cord

ETA: This is the newborn aplix, but I made this for my own upcoming DD and omitted the cord snap down for her since i never use them personally

Re: $ no issue, what do i buy nb

hmm ... $ isnt an object? ... I would also buy a little of EVERTHING!!! What works for one mama wont always work for the other mama's ... so ... just buy everything you like that you see, then what you dont like, you can FSOT to us .... cuz $ IS an object for most of us lol.
I would try flats, PF's, fitteds, pockets, AIO, AI2 ... I would get two or three of each kind of diaper ... and go with different brands .. that way you can get a feel for what you like.
I would try to stick with bamboo/hemp ... it seems to be a bit more expensive but it is trimmer than microfiber and just as absorbant, or even more so.
