Anybody make clothing like MATILDA JANE but cheaper? :)

I love the look of Matilda Jane clothes, but can't even justify the prices it goes for used on ebay! Anybody make cute clothing that looks similar? I don't care about the label! Or if you have any used MJ clothing to sell, try me! My DD is almost 1, but I don't mind buying a bit ahead either.

Not really because even if you look on Etsy, dresses and tops will be similar prices. It just costs a lot to hand make a dress. I sew and I have some Matilda Jane stuff. I know that to make one dress can cost about $20-30 in fabric alone. That is for the nicer fabrics. MJ gets their stuff wholesale and they are made in Peru or China but still, she is charging what it cost when she handmade everything. But she also designs her own fabrics, for the pricier lines. It is just costly to make that stuff. They did just have a sale, which they do occasionally. Rarely.

You need to learn to sew! You could buy cheaper fabric and make your own.

I know I too need to learn how to sew. I was going to suggest searching for little girl's dresses on Etsy but the cheapest that you will find them will be around $20-30. I love the look of these dresses too but like you they are not really in my price range. For me these are the hard things about not working as I would have been able to afford them before but I'm sure my children would rather have mommy at home and cheaper clothes then have more expensive clothing and mommy at work.

I did a quick Etsy search and this is what I came up with.

Prices were between $25 and $40 on this seller's page and super cute goodies to boot!! (She just got saved as a favorite seller for me and I am going to be ordering some goodies for DD for next year as part of her Christmas box of clothes!)

There was also this seller, but IMO not as cute as the above.

I'd be okay with paying $20-$30 for a super cute dress! I just can't even win an ebay auction for anything in that range used! Ugh!

Learn to sew. 90% of the dresses on those links are very basic patterns. You could make it as a beginning sewer even. What will make it look nicer is better fabric and serged edges but you can get the general look shopping at JoAnn's and with a basic sewing machine.

I agree about learning to sew. DD was gifted some MJ at Christmas last year. I loves it so much I made a few dresses based on what she was given. LOVE THEM!
