Re: Homeschooling newbie.. need some help please!

We don't have a very strict schedule here. My now 6th grader (ack!) works on his own in the morning, from 9ish or so until whenever he finishes his list of things to do by himself. The 3 year old and now kindergartner and I work together for an hour or so sometime during the day - usually right after lunch, because I'm really not a morning person, but we're very flexible about it and tend to have an overly full calendar with their playdates, homeschool group activities, and the 3 yo's tumbling class. Once I'm done with the little guys, Tyler and I do anything that we needed to do together - less and less each year, as he's getting very independent, so we typically are done in 30-90 minutes. Everyone is usually completely finished by 3 or so - they have to be because of all of our late afternoon/evening commitments (5 yo has fencing from 4-4:30 twice a week, 10 yo has fencing starting between 4:30 and 6, depending on the day, from Tuesday-Friday, all three boys played baseball this summer, etc.). If they're not done when we need to move on to dinner and fencing, we either do a little work in the evenings or just work a bit harder the next day.
