Baby wearing at Disneyland...shade?

We are going on a 3 day trip to Disneyland. I have decided to bring my Ergo since it is easy and comfy for back carries. I'm trying to figure out how to keep my DD shaded. Any tips or ideas?? She is 11 months old and will not wear hats!

Hmmmmm...stand under awnings? LOL! Are you talking about when she's asleep or awake? You could use the hood....or you could try to use a layer of solarveil (if you can find it) or solarweave to drape over her and still allow airflow...or get a universal head rest by freehand...

I make Universal Sleep Hoods, and Solarveil baby carrier covers

Solarveil Monkey Pocket

Universal Hood can also be made with Solarveil

Another option is to carry an umbrella, but I prefer to have my hands free, especially at Disney.

I do Disneyland all the time and I usually have DS in a hat and I use a parasol/umbrella. While it might seem a pain to carry I learned I love to carry one since it keeps us both from burning up. The best part though is even the most rude people, who normally will shove you off a bridge verses give you an inch of walkway to pass, seem to keep their distance and give you space when you have a pointed object aimed at their eye level I never get bumped when I carry my parasol.

Re: Baby wearing at Disneyland...shade?

We spent a few days in Miami last week at the zoo and seaquarium. We all wore hats, sunscreen applied several times a day, and used an umbrella for instant shade. I was soooo glad we brought the umbrellas. The direct heat would have been horrible without them. And they folded up really small, so we just shoved them in the bookbag that DH wore if they weren't in use.

I second the Monkey Pocket!! We have one and we LOVE it! My babe isn't too thrilled with the hood but will tolerate it some (and when sleeping doesn't care). We use it while strollering as well and my babe will even snuggle up with it to sleep. Much cooler than a lovey in heat!

have you tried a hanna andersson floppy hat with ties, it's the only hat I've been able to use with my last 2 children.

Thank you! I'm thinking an umbrella will be our best choice. When in line (under shade) I can just fold it up, and then use it while wlaking in the non shaded areas. I'm going to bring the hats I have to see if she will be distracted enough to keep them on but I doubt it!!

Wish I had more time to get some solarveil hoods!
