I am truly horrible saying this......

"could you kiddos PLEASE stop making so much noise!!!!!"

Seriously how can my 2 young sons make enough noise to sound like an army?

One has an empty milk carton making silly sounds and blowing in and out on it making that lovely crushing plastic noise....

The other is banging blocks and both are babbling and singing and talking!

I love my kiddos and strive hard to be thankful for every moment. Sometimes I like a little piece though! Okay, I know that's terrible! They're just kids!

LOL i think every mom has those moments. I know i have! Its good you realize you are lucky though. When I am particularly frustrated I tell myself to be thankful she can sing like an opera star at 7 am lol because some kids cant talk at all and when she runs away from me in the store i think of the amazing little boy in the wheelchair in her playgroup...

SOMETIMES this helps. The other times i chalk it up to being human.

I have a friend who swore she would never tell her kids to shut up.... the other day we are on the phone and i hear "shut up already!" her little ones were having a riot in her living room.
After dd was born one of her Dr's said "Don't be surprised if she is really delayed walking and talking... so we worried excessively for months .... then she learned to talk at 9 months....we stopped worrying and have said more than once....just stop talking for 2 minutes!
Why Did we ever teach them to talk? Remember how you couldn't wait for their first word?

Yeah, I have a really good friend who lost her baby boy at about 5 months pregnant and just seeing what she's gone through really made me even more thankful you know? I also had 2 miscarriages before my boys so that kept things in perspective.

I have a lot of guilt when I have frustrating moments because I think "there are so many parents who would give anything to hear this noise."

Oh yeah, my oldest DS has a speech/cognitive delay [as well as SPD]. Everyone told me once he started talking to look out! They were right!

Re: I am truly horrible saying this......

We went through nightmares to get our son but that doesn't stop us from parenting - when he gets too loud, we tell him - he's only 10 months - almost 11 (I can't believe it - I'm in a bit of denial) but we figure if we start young with indoor voice, tone it down, etc... hopefully he'll get it by the time he's older. He just gets excited. I love his sounds, just not when he gets carried away. There is a balance to everything.

I can never call voice activated systems unless the kids are all outside or I put on a movie and go in the playroom by myself. If they are around the voice activated system says "excuse me I didn't catch what you said" I didn't say anything that was my kid pretending to make an escaping gas sound or talking about escaping gas or about body parts (my 4 yr old's 2 favorite topics at the moment .
