Re: If you had a 6-8 lb baby.. how long till 3-6 month clothes?

DD1 was in a new size of clothes every 6 weeks until she hit 18 mos clothing, then she stayed that size for 10 months.

DD2 was much more petite and was in 3-6 mos clothing at ...4-7 months old.

DS was 6lbs 8oz at birth and didn't get into 3-6 month clothing until he was 6 months. He didn't outgrow them until he was around a year old. He's always been a size behind. DD was just under 6lbs at birth and is the same way.

Re: If you had a 6-8 lb baby.. how long till 3-6 month clothes?

Ds was in 3-6months until he was 9ish months old, so I think he was 3-4months before he was in 3-6, he was in newborn for a long time.

He was 7lbs even at birth and swimming in newborn clothes then.

He has always been a size behind his age, he is 3 now and wearing mostly 2T clothes.

DD was 7lbs 8 oz at birth and pretty much right on with clothing....Carter's seemed to run big, so she was probably about 4 months when she was in their 3-6 months. EBF.

D was 7 lbs 14 ounces, he was in newborn for 2 weeks, then 0-3 for about a month, and we JUST switched to 6 month clothes (a week before he turns 5 months)

Depends on the brand. Most of what we had was Carter's and Circo and in those he started wearing that size right about when he turned 3 months old. He matched the clothing sizes until 6-9 months, which he wore until a year old, then 9-12 month clothes he wore until he was 18 months old, and now he needs 2T in length and 12 month in girth.. try to find that!

He was 7lb7oz at birth.

Sorry I don't have time to read the replies, but I did want to mention, if your baby is BFed *in general* they are a little smaller until closer to a year, then they catch up, or get bigger than FF peers. Where if you FF, babies *tend* to be a little chunkier.

**TEND**, I wouldn't bet the farm on this observation, but IME, when DS was born he was 50% across the board, then slowly 'dropped off' until about 9-12m now at 15m he is 75% and higher for his height/weight. I think they base clothing sizes on growth charts, which I have told are based mostly on FF babies.

Seems like we lived in 6-9m and then went through 9-18 in a week!

Re: If you had a 6-8 lb baby.. how long till 3-6 month clothes?

DD 6lb 2oz other then length she was in 3-6 month at a year (warm weather so it worked, thankfully later and still I have to take in elastic waists or have adjustable waist pants for her). She was in premie for 1 and a half months (with the bottoms of the feet cut out) and newborn for a month or so then 0-3 for 2 and a half maybe 3 months and 3-6 until about 14months unless in pants then they were 6-9 but taken in.

DS 6lb 4oz premie for the first month then newborn for another month then 0-3 for about 2 months and 3- 6 for a month then 6-9/12 at 6 months to 9 months then 12-18 from 9 months to 13 months then 18-24 from 13 months to 17 months now 24 months.

kids grow at different rates, I had up to 18months when ds was born thinking he would be like his sister and I had 2 years of clothing ready boy was I wrong. Thankfully what I did was bought the cotton sleepers and when It was cold added the fleece sleep sacks so they worked for the season changes. I also bought the hoodie/pant/shortsleeve sets so they worked great for chilly summer nights as well as spring fall and winter with another long sleeve under the short sleeve for winter. So in other words layers were awesome for buying in advance. HTH

Oh and dd was 3 days past term and Ds was 4 days past term, I just have smaller babies.

Re: If you had a 6-8 lb baby.. how long till 3-6 month clothes?

Cecilia was 6 lbs 3 oz, and when we took her home she was 5 lbs 10 oz. She is now 4 months old and wearing 3 month clothing. 3-6 or just plain 6 month stuff is still too big on her, even with a cloth diaper.

My DD was 6lbs 9oz at birth and she did not wear 3-6 month clothes until she was almost 6 months old.
