Pails and pail liners

Where did you get yours?

I have a small pail from BRU that was $10... that holds less than a day worth of dipes, so I use that for mama pads now.

I tried getting away with the 'wet' bags from Dollar Tree... they all ended up with holes in them and had to throw them away.

So, the dipes sitting on the floor in the bathroom or in a trash bag isn't going to do, especially with the heat we've had already and its not even summer!

SO... where to get a pail that will hold between 2-3 days (really 2 days) worth of dipes. What kind of liner?

Re: Pails and pail liners

I don't use a liner.
I got my diaper pail (aka trash can) at Target.
It's just a white rectangular one with a flip top lid.
I have two one upstairs and one down. They hold a day to a day 1/2 each.
When they fill up...I know it's time to wash.
I think a bunch of people have gotten "the bullet" from Walmart but I don't know how much it holds etc.

Re: Pails and pail liners

I got a regular flip-top trash can from Target with a foot pedal. I use a MOE pail liner in it and it works out perfect for us and hold about 1.5-2 days worth of dipes.

I have a 13gal trash can from Walmart that has the step-open lid, I have a dollar store bag in it (you just cant dry them in the dryer & havent had a problem, but mommy2zander is making me a real one). I also have a smaller 5gal trash can with lid downstairs, also with a bag by mommy2zander. I wash every 2 days give or take, the upstairs one never gets filled since we use the downstairs one too. I just try to wash when I have 2 days worth of diapers.

I have a diaper champ too. I CD 2 babes, so I only can hold a days worth...but if your only have 1 I would imagine it would hold a couple days. I have a wetbag that mommy2zander made for me & it fits perfect!

Re: Pails and pail liners

I have a stuff bag from the camping section at Walmart that I use without a pail and it's wonderful. I think it was ~$4 and easily holds two days worth. It's not actually waterproof...like PUL...it's just water resistant...but I think that's part of the reason it works well, because the air can circulate so the dipes don't stink. I just have to hang it so that it's not touching the floor and then I even put the poopy dipes in there dripping wet after I rinse them. The outside of the bag sometimes feels damp, but it doesn't "leak" or anything. And I wash/dry it with the dipes every time and it's held up fine.

Re: Pails and pail liners

so i have a question too....dh wants to separate the dipes so i was going to get two smaller trash cans w/lids. the ones i was looking at i guess were 5 gal...probably more i think. between the two of them would that hold enough for washing every other day?

He wants to separate what? I mean, based on what criteria? It's perfectly fine to wash everything together and makes life SOOooo much easier!
