Re: Mama's of 3....

I originally had a Saturn 4 door sedan - when I got pregnant with DS (already had older DD) Dh thought I needed something more reliable and roomier...so we got a Saturn Vue...then OOPS Emma surprised us and there was no way the three kiddos would fit in the back, with a 10 yr old and 2 car seats...so we had to sell that after only one year and bought a Suburban....really I don't like having 2 kids in car seats sitting right next to each other so this was the best option for us. We got the one with the captains seats on the second row and a bench for the 3rd row...this was for ease fo getting into the third row - which we KNEW we were going to use, and for comfort of other people that might ride with us. I have Parker in his carseat in the second row right behind me....then the other captain seat is usually folded up...in the backrow is Emma by the passenger side window and older DD sits next to her in the middle. This works well for me getting everyone in their seats easily without anyone having to hang out in the parking lot...I open the passenger side back door and Parker crawls in and goes to his seat and I put Emma in and buckle her in. Then I go around and buckle Parker in.

The Suburban is VERY roomy and I don't have to worry about packing or cramming too much in there....when it was wrecked and being repaired I had a rental Ford Explorer with third row...though we had the same number of rows/seats it just not fit the car seats very well...there was never enough leg room or room between carseats and backs of other seats...it was just too tight

Re: Mama's of 3....

I have my 2 and my niece 3 across in my Grand Marquis everyday, 4.5yo DS in a FF Graco Nautilus, 2yo DD in a RF Britax Marathon, and 19month old DN in a RF Cosco Scenera. We've also used a Graco Snugride instead of the Scenera, depending on the position, we've used it with & without the base. Have you thought about buying different carseats? Maybe a Sunshine Kids Radian or two in the mix could help achieve a 3across....post over in the carseat forum, I'm sure they can help you figure something out

Our 3rd is due in Dec. and I drive a Dodge Journey. Ours is a 7 passenger, but we will not be using the 3rd row at first. We can fit a Britax Marathon, Graco Nautilus, and Chicco Keyfit across the middle row.

We have a Chevy Traverse, I love it. It's a crossover, so a mix between a van & an SUV. I wasn't quite ready for a van, and I'm so happy we went with the Traverse.

We drive a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix. DH was concerned, but we've installed all three full-size car seats, and they all fit perfectly. While I'd love the extra room something like a Grand Caravan or a Taurus X would provide, I definitely appreciate the gas mileage of our mid-size sedan.

Re: Mama's of 3....

We drive a Hyundai Tuscon. DS1 was nearly 5 when DS3 was born. So we have a booster seat for DS1, a carseat for DS2, and the infant seat for DS3. It's a little snug, but it's not difficult to deal with. It's working well for us. And I LOVE my Tuscon!!!!

God bless!

Re: Mama's of 3....

we had a Ford Focus SE Wagon. we didn't have the second row seat option in it, but the back seat held 3 carseats just fine. now we're expecting #4 and traded it in for a Chrysler Town and Country. seats 7.

Re: Mama's of 3....

Thanks mama's!!!!!! I have checked over in the car seat forum and even on car-seats.org... that's how I figured out that a Forester is very difficult for 3 across. We will be buying a HBB soon for DD so hopefully we can manage it (we'll see) ... just wanted to see what all of you all w/ 3 drove and how it works out Great to know!!!!

Re: Mama's of 3....

I just put my two Sunshine kids Radians and the Chicco key fit in my mom's Forester about 2 weeks ago they all fit. I usually drive a Camry (not much difference in width but you have that nice cargo area too) and when I found out we were having #3 I measured our Backseat and width between seat belts and discovered the Britax were too wide to do 2 of those and the Chicco (we were in need of new sweats anyway , kids getting bigger) so I went to baby stores and measured every seat I could find (sales people were really nice and liked to help me with this ). I found the Radians to be the best fit for our car. I am not a fan of the "have another kid buy a new car" plan. We actually have not bought a new car since before we found out we were pregnant with the first child.
