Re: Any one have positive stories about a broken sac?

I just returned from my cousins baby shower. Her water broke at 17 weeks after an amniocentesis. She was on strict bed rest (at home for 7 weeks until it was considered a viable pregnancy) and then in the hospital after that.

She gave birth at 35 weeks to a 6lbs2oz baby. There were some minor feeding issues but he was released from hospital with mom 3 days after delivery and is doing great. He is 5 weeks old now and up to 8lbs4oz.

Re: Any one have positive stories about a broken sac?

I was in the hospital with a lady with twins who had her water break around 24wks. They kept her in the hospital on strict bedrest at an incline and she went to 33wks. She was readmitted a few days later because she had an infection and the babies stayed in the hospital with an infection, but at least they lived and are probably living a pretty normal life now. At 24wks back then, babies only had a slim chance of survival without any long-term problems. Now it's a lot more, but that was over 13 yrs ago.

So glad to hear!! 17wks is just too early.
That was always my fear with an amnio... it just seems like it would happen more often since they puncture the sac!
