Anybody out there with a newborn and a Flip cover?
I came up with a new way of putting the Flip on a itty bitty newborn while laying a wake and trying to fall asleep the other night. Why I was even thinking about this is beyond me. I don't have a newborn, I'm not pregnant or planning on getting pregnant anytime soon
But I have no idea if this would actually work on a real baby. So if anyone has a Flip cover and a newborn and wants to try this out, please let me know if it works of if I'm just nuts ![]() Anyways, my thought is to fold the back of the cover over twice so you still end up with the snaps facing the right direction, the back flap still kinda works, and with the elastic should work too. This may make it too small, but I don't know...no real baby to play with! Here are some pictures on a doll with a GMD orange edge laid inside and a picture tute to show what I'm talking about: ![]() Here's what the new small folded size looks like on the doll ![]() Here's the regular small setting ![]() Back of folded small ![]() Back of regular small setting ![]() Leg gap is almost nonexistent with back folded ![]() Regular small had big leg gap Here's how I did it: ![]() Lay prefold inside with diaper pushed up to the front of the cover ![]() fold the back of cover over once, not covering up any of the diaper ![]() Fold over again making a new back "flap" to cover the diaper. Then just snap as usual. Someone please try this and tell me if it works! A picture on a real baby would be great!

Re: Anybody out there with a newborn and a Flip cover?
Oooh, good idea! I have a 6 day old and lots of Flip covers and some Diaper Rite prefolds. I'll try this in a little bit when I get a free moment. I'll let you know how it goes and take some pics for ya!

Re: Anybody out there with a newborn and a Flip cover?
It seems like it would leak. IME the waist elastic is what stops urine from running out the top of the back. Since it is folded down inside the diaper it seems like it would just run straight out.

With the back folded over twice, the elastic does end up going across the back, but with a layer of the cover fabric between it and the baby.

Re: Anybody out there with a newborn and a Flip cover?
I like this idea. I think it looks great! And there is still a back flap to stop any leaking. I would totally be willing to try it if I had a newborn. Heh - my neighbor is preggo. lol! Maybe she will want to experiment, but it will be a bit of a wait. i will check back to see if this works. Would be excellent if it does (and I see no reason really why it wouldn't - looks like a better fis AND will be gentler on little waists).

Re: Anybody out there with a newborn and a Flip cover?
(Totally just realized my guy isn't a newborn anymore - I SO wish I could try it with him but he fits great on the smallest rise setting - at almost 17 lbs!)
