Cell numbers usually are not traceable (i may have spelled that wrong sorry).

Mabel's Labels have some really great wristbands you can put on your kids.

Seems OK of an idea for younger kids ones who don't know their numbers.

I made DS a bracelet with his name and my cell phone number on it. Its easily visible if he gets lost.

Re: Has anyone else ever done this? (Written phone number on kids?)

I wrote our emergency numbers (and out of area emergency numbers) on DD once. There was a very violent tornado headed straight for our small town and we have a crawlspace, no basement. She still asks when there is a storm if she should wear her bike helmet and if I'm going to write on her again. Fortunately she thought it was fun, interesting, intriguing, and exciting.

Btw, the tornado passed just south of our house in a rural area, but did seriously damage other small towns.

Eta: we do have an I'd bracelet that dd wears out--it has emergency numbers on it.

I've done that. I've also written our campsite number on them when we were camping and they were younger.

Re: Has anyone else ever done this? (Written phone number on kids?)

I've always done the card in the pocket. Now my boys know the number so I don't worry as much, but I hadn't thought of losing the card. I would write on my kid, unless it was a water park or something, I don't think that is a big deal. When I was little my mom got us the "Safety Kids" coloring book and tape, I bought my boys the cd off ebay several years ago and I still remember (from my childhood) the chorus of "Look for a grandma or mother with children, ask her for help and I'm sure she'll be willin'....oh geez, now I will have that in my head all night! Have a fun zoo trip!

AWESOME idea! I've never thought about doing that, but I'm going to start from now on.

I have. Then I got temp tattoos with my phone number on them to use. I plan on using them until DS and DD are old enough to know our phone numbers themselves.
