S/O... Little boys standing to potty?

When did you start teaching your DS(s) to stand and pee?!

Another thread got me thinking since we still teach ODS (who's 2 on Friday ) to sit I was curious to find out the age for standing or if you just started that way in the first place.

Re: S/O... Little boys standing to potty?

We started out on a potty seat with our 3yo. (the Baby Bjorn that fits on top of the regular potty) and then one day he just decided he wanted to stand up to pee. The only disadvantage I've found is that he is less likely to poop, since he would commonly go when he was sitting there already.

Ds will be three in October and we have started to have him stand on top of our feet within the last month. Before that he couldn't reach so had to wait for that.

My son has always stood up to pee. He was peeing in the potty at 22 months, but not fully PTed until he was 3.

We taught our boys within a couple of days of them starting to pee in the potty. It made it easier to use the restroom in public that way.

Really?! That's amazing. How did you teach without them creating a mess?! Did they learn to stand over a potty chair or stand in front of the regular potty?

DS is 5.5 and DH just started teaching him, as he starts kindergarten and we want him to learn.

Re: S/O... Little boys standing to potty?

We tried to teach the boy to sit and potty, but it didn't work. Until he started standing up to pee, he just didn't, so that's what he's always done.

I second the now having poop issues though, he'd poop but not pee sitting down, and now tries to skip the pooping. I think I'd rather be cleaning up the puddles, in all honesty <.<

We've encountered a few toilets that are actually to tall for him, maybe ours sit lower than normal or something? He's been standing to pee since he was about 3 1/2 and it's been fine.

DS finally got how to stand to pee by 17 months. He always sat before that. It makes things so much easier for pottying when we are out of the house.

Re: S/O... Little boys standing to potty?

My son was PT at 24 months and he is now almost 3.5 and my DH has him stand on occasion. He sent him to the bathroom to pee by himself the other morning just to see if he could/would do it. He did, and he didn't make too bad of a mess on the toilet. I just always have him sit. I hadn't thought about it being easier for him to go that way out in public. Poor thing is standing there dancing around trying to keep from peeing on himself while I line the seat with toilet paper LOL!! He could just stand. Hehe I will have him do that from now on out in public.
