Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

My little guy is 2, but for his second birthday we took him out to eat and let him eat his spaghetti (at an outdoor restaurant with our dog under the table to clean the mess) all by himself in a big boy chair. We live in Germany so dogs are more than welcome at outdoor dining places. When we got home he got to lick the beaters of the chocolate frosting for his cake. It was my absolute favorite mess he has ever made.

Dirt is great for kids!

It would depend on if I was in the mood to clean up the mess after letting them get dirty but for the most part, yes most definately!

I voted yes, but it would depend on the moment - at a fancier family gathering, for example, would be no. But on pretty much any other instance, yep, they can get as dirty as they want. I only ask that they call for me at the back door to bring a towel so they don't track the dirt through the house

That sounds fun, and as long as we're not talking them in their fancy going out clothes, why not? I'd make sure they were safe and let them have fun.

Again, if it were the right time/mood, sure! Kids needs to experiment and learn about their environment. I still remember going outside in the rain when I was young and splashing in muddy puddles. Its a rite of passage

Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

absolutely! I love dirty kids- they are 100% washable!! my oldest is into barrel racing and often gets caught on a horse in the Florida afternoon rains, my middle girl rides 4 wheelers and is ALWAYS a mess when she comes in from playing 'in' the pond with her dad- he built a jeep for the sole purpose of mud bogging in the pond out back, and my littlest one seems to always make her way out to the sand box or mud in her undies.. kids need to be kids and making them stay inside and clean all the time is just adding to the video game and tv addiction in my opinion.

Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

Yep! I take her to my Dad's farm on the weekends and let her chase calves in the mud, roll around with the dogs and eat strawberries straight from the garden. It's good for them to get dirty, I think there are too many people afraid of germs these days that they don't let kids get dirty (my Mother for instance) and I do think there is a difference between germs and dirt!

She comes home FILTHY, literally just covered in disgusting blackness. She's definitely washable though!

Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

We were camping in a state park with great shower houses, and I didn't let the kids come near the camper until they'd been appropriately scrubbed from head to toe. I wouldn't even let them under the awning on the indoor/outdoor rug. lol

I didn't get too dirty myself, but did get good and wet with them.

I was really just surprised given the number of kids they played with all weekend that we didn't see any others out in the rain.

Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

not very often, but every once in a while...yes!
one day this summer my two little boys got soaked (with clothes on) with the hose and then got ice cream from the ice cream truck that dripped all over them. i love looking at pictures from that day! they look so happy and messy!
