Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

I love letting my kids get dirty. I am seriously thinking of letting them play outside right now even though it is POURING rain. Although I'm feeling kind of lazy and don't really want to clean them up...

Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

We keep lots of play clothes handy for just such an occasion, even when we go on vacation. It can be a pain to clean everything, but playing in the mud is just part of childhood, in my opinion.

If I tell them no, it's for a good reason, and it doesn't happen that often.

As long as it's nothing toxic or diseased, I'd let my kids get filthy. That's what the hose and bathtub is for A mud bath is actually good for their skin

Very rarely do i let my kids get absolutely filthy . The main reason being my kids don't like being dirty . Little man wont even eat anything messy . But yes we have played in mud puddles .

Yes. I used to have a neighbor though that couldn't stand for her boys to get dirty. They didn't have "play clothes". Everything was Gymboree or Janie and Jack and she would freak if they got dirt on them when they played. I felt bad for those kids.

Re: Do you let your kids get dirty?

Heck yeah! I remember when I was a kid we had this huge apple tree at the bottom of a hill that got hit by lightning, one of the neighbors came over with his tractor and helped my grandpa pull it out. They started to fill the hole with loose dirt & it started to pour rain, so they stopped and let all of us kids play in there in the mud & rain, they even went and got a thick plastic dropcloth and laid it on the hill to make a slip n slide (more like slip 'n bleed )...my grandparent's had all 12 of us grandkids at the farm at the same time that weekend and we all got SOOOOOO filthy, but all of us remember that as one of the best times we ever had out at the farm. To clean us up, grandma pulled the hose in through the kitchen window and turned the water on warm, then had all of us kids stand outside and hosed us down. I just hope I can give my kids an experience like that sometime

For sure. We camp every time we get a chance and my toddler is always covered in dirt and mud. He loves it.
Plus we live on a farm at the end of a dirt road - my kids are dirty more often than they are clean.

OP that is a wonderful memory! I would let them if they weren't in good clothes and I had a place to wash them up.
