Vaccine exemptions... where to start?

I'm thinking about putting DS in a public preschool program and it just occurred to me that I'd have to get a vaccine waiver. DS has had a few vaccines-- dtap, prevnar, hib (maybe?) and that may be it. We're not doing anymore. Where do you get exemption forms? And is it easier to say he has no vaccines than try to get exemptions for the ones he "needs?" We're in AZ.

DD has had a few vaccines and I just said she hadn't had any just because I didn't feel like dealing with anymore than I had to. I had to go to my health department and tell them I needed a vaccine exemption certificate for my daughter. It was fairly simple once the lady stopped trying to be a butt to me. They did ask me twice what my religion was which was against the law. If you choose to add in what your DD has had then you need to get a paper from the peds office outlining what she has had. Good luck!

By law they are not allowed to ask you this. If they do you can simply remind them of the law OP.

Here is a link that goes state by state, saying what kinds of exemptions are available.

You contact your local health department and tell them you want a vaccine exemption. You do not have to tell them anything else except we do not believe in vaccinating.

They may try to give you a hard time, just stick to your guns and know your rights

I saw these are for child care facilities, not sure if that would be the same as a school.

Yep, that's it!

ETA, we are in VA, but we pretty much had a very similar form to fill out for DD1 when she went to preschool for a couple months last year.

There is no law that people can't ask you something.

There is a law that they cannot discriminate on the basis of religion.

There is a difference.
