I'm so proud! Little CD Mama in-training!

We had our science fair this week at school. Some of the older kids did individual projects and one girl did hers on garbage and the rate at which things decay. She had various items in soil and added water to them weekly to demonstrate her point.
She had a sposie in one of her bins and said that it kept absorbing all the water that she added so there was never enough water to allow bacteria to form to start the decay process. She said they'd take forever to disintegrate and that the plastic parts wouldn't decay during out lifetimes.
Of course, I had to follow up with 'So, knowing that those diapers will stay around forever, if you become a mother one day, will you use them?'
She said 'No. My friend's mom said there are diapers made from cloth and you have to wash them yourself. I'm going to do that.'
I teared up. Maybe she'll come visit DS one day

(SOrry for the creepy face covering. Gotta do it ) I tried to get a picture of her signing (I'm in a Deaf school)--she used the sign for 'disgusting' when she described the sposies and 'awful' when she said they wouldn't decay. GOOD GIRL!

That is awesome!!!
I had to write a paper for school a couple weeks ago and I wrote about cloth diapering.... peaked quite a bit of interest
I think if people were made more aware of the options for cloth diapering now more people would choose cloth

Awww - that is so cute!
I'm glad she thought that the sposie was gross, and wasn't grossed out by washing a cloth diaper herself!

Hopefully her little experiment influenced some of the other kiddos (and grown-ups) too!

Very cool! I really hope that the next generation will be more enviromentally consious. I know that I'm raising my kids to be aware of what they use and throw away but there needs to be a more widespread movement. I just don't see our generation doing that. Most people are too absorbed in wants and themselves. None of you of course, I was just thinking that society in general.

Thats so cool. I think if more people could see the type od CD's out there they would be more likely to try it. When most people hear cloth diaper discussed they think of prefolds, pins and plastic pants. I am not insulting anyone who uses those but there are so many more options out there that people dont even know about. I have showed a couple of my friends that dont have kids my CD's and they both said that when/if they have kids they would definitly try CDing.
