Re: Fever & febrile sezures :(

I just took it in her armpit while she is sleeping on me and got 101.5, but I don't know how accurate that is, she feels hotter to me.

Children get high temps all the time. Now if an adult has a 103 temp the hospital is in order, but not a child.

They can give medicines for high temps my son who is 8 had to have meds to get his temp down and it was not tylenol I forgot what it was but it was in IV but his temp was higher than 101.5 in armpit. If it is coming down then I would not worry just keep an eye on it. When you take armpit temp you add 1 degree to make it accurate.

For an armpit temp, you add a degree, so she's got a 102.5 fever.

I wouldn't go to the hospital. They aren't going to do anything you're not doing. Try the motrin first at least.

We don't vaccinate, we kept our sons intact, we use cloth diapers, we co-sleep, we extended RF, we breastfeed, but we watch too much tv and I totally dig plastic! Everyone has their issues, lol.

eek that sounds awful. We are not the super medical type so we try to avoid hospitals and interventions like that, I'd rather stay home and do everything we can to bring it down that have to go to the ER and have an IV or more medicine.

His temp was at 105 and not coming down for anything..But you said Whilder was at 103 and is now at 102.5 so you are managing it and it is trying to come down. I wouldn't go unless it goes over 103. I would talk to your doctor next appt about febrile seizures and what to do though..Good luck and I hope it keeps coming down.

Oh yeah! At 105, I'd get a baby in asap! *I* had a 105.7 temp when I was in high school and I honestly wanted to die, it was the worst thing I've ever been through in my life!

wanted to add that IIRC febrile seizures manifest when the temp. spikes fast rather than just a high temp.... hmmm. did it come one fast or has it slowly risen? did you go the UC today or was that another time.

No the time when we went in was about 3 weeks ago. The fever keeps going down and coming back up, she is still having the sezures
