Infant with poop breath!

My 5 month old, exclusively bf dd, has breath that smells just like her poop sometimes. Does anybody have an idea why? She is very healthy, eats great, and is nice and fat. She also has had a small ulcer/red spot on the end of her tounge, it healed up about a month ago and now is back. It doesn't seem to affect her nursing thankfully. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. We homebirthed and won't be vaccinating so havn't been to a doctor checkup yet, and I don't want to go unless its needed. Thanks!

Maybe it's something you're eating to give a stong smell/flavor to the bm?

As far as the red spot, my ds would get these red marks on the tip of his tongue that would alarm me but I think we figured it out to be from him mouthing his toys. It wasn't raised though...looked like a hickey.

Ya, she poops normally, sometime she goes 3-4 days between, but it is always yogurt consistancy. Her breath isn't too bad, it just makes me think she has just dirtied her diper.

What does her breath smell like? It shouldn't smell like adult poop, but if it smelled like curdled milk or something like that, I would assume that's normal. The smell maybe from a burp or a little spit up.

My baby has this, too. I'll think, "did you poop?" and then I realize it's just because she was right up in my face breathing on me, lol. I don't think that it's actually a poopy smell, I just think that ebf baby poop smells so sweet, like baby breath. Does that make sense? My baby's poop has that sweet smell.

Ya, it smells like her poop, not adult thank goodness! Just like normal breastfed baby poop. Which is not really icky smelling, other than it being poop and naturally icky. But it's not spit up or burp smell... And its not all the time, just sometimes. I guess its semi-normal and I won't worry about it.

Does the smell coincide with when she has the sore on her tongue? I know sometimes sores can have a certain smell to them as they're healing or if they get infected.

Does she have any signs of thrush?? My dd only had bad breath if she spit up an hour or so after she ate. The sore would worry me.

I've noticed (and had some friends notice also) that their babies get bad breath when they are overdue for a poop. Normally DDs breath smells good, but is she was supposed to poop yesterday and didn't, it smells worse and worse until she goes. I have no explanation for this, but I'm not the first to notice it!
