Question about bf baby growth

My son is growing very fast. He is off the charts for growth. He gained 1 lb a week this past month. He is 2 months old. Should I be worried? The dr said he isn't worried about it right now. How fast did other bf babies grow?

my 5 month 4 week ebf baby is 18 lb 15 oz and 27 in long!!!!! I think they get more fat from bm and chubby babies are cute anyway!

My BF'er is a skinny boy. He's 3.5 months and 11lbs 7ozs but he was 9lbs3ozs at birth....Dr. said hes going to be tall and skinny and hes growing along the 25th percentile curve (puts him 140 as an adult, thats his dad).

If the doctor isn't worried, you shouldn't be either. Some kids fall off either side of the chart, and most doctor's offices are using charts based on the growth of formula fed babies anyhow. So the growth curve is a little different. My DD was a superchunk until she started crawling, then slimmed way down. Just because you DS doesn't fall into the weight chart's "averages" doesn't mean he isn't "normal". As long as he's not say fifth percentile for height and off the chart on weight, he's fine. Even if that were the case, that could just be normal for him.

I don't know, my dd is 11 mo, and at her 9 mo she was -3% for her age she was 14lbs 8 oz. I nursered her only until she was 6 mo., and once she started solids I still nursed 3-4 and we still nurse 2x a day, and she eats like a horse, and still is just tiny. I don't get it. The dr didn't seem too worried. She goes in the 2nd of April for her 1yr so I hope it has increased my then.

all of my babies were bf and gained weight rapidly...my oldest was 32 pounds at one year old and was only 7 lbs 14 ozs at birth. I would not be worried about your baby gaining weight at all but rather be more worried about him not gaining weight. It sounds like your baby is doing just fine as are you bf him mama. Way to go!

My yongest was 38lbs 11ozs at 11mos old. Yah he gained a pound a week for a long time. The weight/growth of BF babies do vary. Some are thin and petite and some are chunky. I think alot of it has to do w/family build. We are built on large frames (not counting weight ROFL). I am 5'8" and I was wearing 14 jeans, but I couldn't find coats to fit me right b/c my shoulders are too broad. All my kids were "solid" thru toddlerhood!

My baby is also EBF and grew 1 lb a week until he was 3 months old. His dr was shocked and weighed him 3 times at his 2 month appt because he was sure that couldn't possibly be right, but it was. They aren't worried about it. My daughter was also very large, and once she was mobile she slimmed right down.

My DS weighed 16 lbs 8 oz at his 2 month checkup. He's 4 months today and weighs right around 20 lbs (we haven't had his check up yet)

Just curious, how much does he weigh, and what was his birth weight?

my son gained alot in the first few months then he started slowing down a little once he started solids. He was 7#6oz at birth and doubled his birth weight fast...now he's 18lbs at 10mths. but he's happy and healthy.

You really shouldn't worry ever unless the baby is NOT gaining any weight at all. I'm sure he's perfect.
