For those of you who go to the chiro regularly...
How soon after the baby do you go back?
I keep meaning to ask my chiro when he wants to see me back but I am not sure. I have a few concerns...well one major one. I am assuming that I am going to tear...don't want to. Hope that I don't. BUT I have with both of the other 2 and even though I am so focused on breathing this baby out I am also being realistic. My skin elasticity suc*s and I know it. Anyways, so I will likely be repaired with dermabond and know that I need to keep my knees together for atleast a solid 5 days. Should I wait to go to the chiro until atleast those 5 days are through? I can't see how it is possible for him to adjust me on my side without me having to move my knees apart. Beyond that I guess I am afraid that it is going to hurt a bit after the baby. Hurt my tummy, hurt my who-ha, just hurt...I know I'm nuts...

Re: For those of you who go to the chiro regularly...
I saw my chiro on the way home from my c-section birth with DD, which was 2 days post birth. They can adjust you differently to accomodate the situation... I couldn't lay on my belly so they adjusted me sitting up and laying on my back.

Re: For those of you who go to the chiro regularly...
I had Alannah on Wednesday and went Saturday--if they'd let us out of the hospital sooner, I would have gone Friday. My chiro definitely has eased up a lot and said he won't do full adjustments for a few weeks. Instead, he uses modified positions depending on what is comfortable for me and uses the activator more. It depends on your comfort level and your pain. My back pain was unbearable, and, yes, I did beg him to come in on a Saturday.

Re: For those of you who go to the chiro regularly...
Thanks Fe and Lisa. I guess he probably knows what he is doing. I have appointments through the end of next week (I went ahead and scheduled today and told them I was hopeful that I'd have to cancel atleast 1 of them!). I suppose I'll just have to wait to see how I feel.

Re: For those of you who go to the chiro regularly...
Hmm... maybe I should email mine and ask. I have appointments scheduled every 2 weeks, but maybe I'll want to get in sooner if the baby is born shortly after an appointment.

Re: For those of you who go to the chiro regularly...
I just started seeing a chiro, and was thinking I'd go a couple of weeks after birth. But, if I will get the most benefit sooner, maybe I will schedule an appt sooner.

Re: For those of you who go to the chiro regularly...
I go in 2-3 days after. Both baby and I get adjusted.
I haven't ever torn though. If I did, I'd probably wait until I felt okay but I'd still take baby in pretty quickly.

Re: For those of you who go to the chiro regularly...
Oh, yeah-I did have my chiro look at Alannah, too. Jack was born with his neck twisted (he was facing my left leg instead of up or down) and the ped said he'd have torticolus sp?) for sure. Howver the chiro worked with him from the start and it never developed.
It really is a comfort when you go in. However, just to throw out there--my chiro has said numerous times that after child birth is one of the only rare times in adulthood that some prior damage can actually be fixed because of the pregnancy hormones.
