Have you ever/Do you hand wash your PUL diaper covers?

I use vinegar in my wash or TTO and I've read that vinegar ruins the PUL and my DD has been having a reaction since I started using more TTO and my covers needed to be washed. I put themin a bucket of HOT water with some washing soda and mixed them around. Then I dumped that, rinsed them, put in more HOT water and some of my Allens detergent mixed that around let them soak/sit. Then I rinsed and rinsed and squeezed them out. Is this getting them clean enough?

I always wash mine by hand and only about 1x/month put them in the wash. We have a product here called NapiSan that is a diaper sanitizer that I soak the yucky ones in but the rest I just hand wash with regular detergent. They have lasted me much longer this way.

I don't really know if that's clean enough, but it sounds like it might be. Is there any sign of odor or stain? That might be a way to tell... If you think it's good enough, why not try it? Just keep a close watch on your LO's skin, and you'll know soon enough.

I handwash mine all the time. I like to reduce the wear as much as possible

I like hand washing mine. I feel that they get less wear and tear and than they are ready for me to use the next morning.
I found that I didn't have to buy as many covers this way.
I rinse them and scrub off any poo that has gotten on the gussets. I than let them soak a bit with warm water and detergent, swish them around, rinse really well and hang to dry.
I have done this for years with out any issues at all.

Ditto this. I have gotten lazy in the past few months and tossed them in the machine more, and I can see a difference in wear. You are for sure getting them clean enough!

Re: Have you ever/Do you hand wash your PUL diaper covers?

Vinegar is not an enemy to PUL unless you let is SOAK in it for long periods of time. Putting vinegar in the rinse cycle is JUST FINE!

When hand washing and using detergent, just be sure to RINSE RINSE RINSE! I think the machines agitation along with the large amounts of water in the rinse cycle help to clean the fibers, but that's not really an issue with Poly and PUL!

Poly PUL covers should do just fine being hand washed!

Re: Have you ever/Do you hand wash your PUL diaper covers?

I am not a fan of handwashing covers ... I trust my washer a lot more than myself ... But I wash diapers every other day anyways because I have two in diapers and use only pockets and AIOs with my older one so I just throw the covers than need washing into the wash with the rest of the diapers.

But it sounds like you're doing a great job handwashing. The only thing I can think of is maybe being careful with the squeezing water out so you don't damage the pul?
