I know a 5 year old girl named Journey, so I view it as a girl's name

I did

I'm leaning more towards boy name

I knew one Journey and he was a boy, so I think boy.

I think it's a really lovely name for either boy or girl.

My dh's barber's name is Journey and is a woman so I automatically think girl. She's kind of a tomboy though...

Re: Is this name more of a girl or boy name to you?

I voted girl because the first Journey I heard of was a girl. A few years later, probably on DS, I heard of a boy named Journey. But in general, people tend to be more inventive with girl names and more traditional with boy names. Also, people are more willing to have a gender-neutral name for a girl than a boy, perhaps feelign that it weakens a boy to possibly be mistaken for a girl.

It's such an uncommon name, though, that I honestly think you can do either with it. Most people will have never heard of it, will have no preconceptions, and that unfamiliarity means they'll probably see the name as matching whatever gender your child is.

Re: Is this name more of a girl or boy name to you?

I just guessed which I though it associated with...really it could easily go both ways since it is really uncommon anyway. BTW- I love GN names...all of my kids names are GN.

I voted girl, but I love boys names for girls (my top 2 picks for girls are Kingsley and Maddox). idk if that makes me biased. It *could* go either way though.
