My baby officially has a small head....
Double posting from my DDC, just wondering if any more mama's have any experience to offer...
And I can't help but worry! they haven't really told me too much of what this could mean, and to be honest, I don't know that I want to know because it would likely worry me more....But i'm just devastated. I mean, I just want my baby to cook as long as possible, and come out breathing really, I would never even consider not having a child if it had health concerns, but for some reason, this is hitting me hard....I cried the whole half hour drive home. I guess maybe because there's no real answer, it could just as likely be nothing as it is something.....But I'm still just so upset about it. Any experience with this ladies? this was the second u/s where it measured small, and it's less than the tenth percentile right now. I got back for another u/s in two weeks, right now, they say the major concern is if it stops growing, but they aren't too concerned because it is still growing. But what would happen if my baby's head just....stopped growing? I'm just a mess, so this is all jumbly, thanks for reading ladies.

Re: My baby officially has a small head....
How is the rest of the baby growing? I know my DDs head was small. like the 5th %ile.. But she was also born at 5lbs 11oz and she was in the 5th %ile all over and she still has a small head. When she was born it was less than 5th %ile.

yeah... Is the rest of her small too or have they said microcephaly or another fancy term? Lots of babies are born smaller than the typical growth charts, I'm just curious if it's just the head and how small it is compared to the rest of her. to you mama, I can't imagine going through all the not knowing and waiting.

Re: My baby officially has a small head....
Are they going to do further scans to determine if baby has a small head or actually has something like microcephaly?
I'm sorry you are so worried about all this.

Re: My baby officially has a small head....
Sorry, yes, it is just the head, the rest of the measurements are completely normal.
They are doing another scan in two weeks, and going from there.

Re: My baby officially has a small head....
I have a dear friend who had a baby with an extremely tiny head. THough I have no clue if it was like this through womb also? But she had to keep going back to the Dr. and run tests ect. She as fine though, I guess it is weird to have a baby with a normal /small head, everyone expects and bowling ball with arms?? Don't be too concerned because it could be something, but it also could be ABSOLUTELY NOTHNIG and just a petite baby!

Re: My baby officially has a small head....
Mama, 10th percentile is still normal (e.g. 10% of the population is smaller). I haven't had this experience, but based on reading lots of posts from lots of mamas, very often these "findings" from ultrasounds turn out to be nothing, and the baby is perfectly fine, all that happened was it stressed out mom & dad.
Good luck!

Re: My baby officially has a small head....
We had the opposite issue with my son, a really large head.
Measuring many weeks ahead. After birth, his head was ridiculously off the charts, and my pediatrician would measure MY Head at the appts, because I as well have a large head. So they chalked it up to random genetics. Thankfully we are both stocky and don't look bizarre but large heads can also be a concern. I'm not try to make light of your fears, but some people do have smaller (or bigger) skulls and 10% of the population as someone else said has a smaller head than your baby.
