What age do your boys PL?

My DS will be 3 in June - he has absolutely no interest in the potty. I'm ok with it and wasn't really going to push much until after he was 3. I feel like all my family/friends are on my case about getting him 'trained'. It's pretty normal for boys to PL around 3, right? And what about at night? A year or so later?

Re: What age do your boys PL?

I have two friends who boys will be three in April and May and they are no where close to be PL/PT. My nephews learned at 3 1/2 and 4. Yikes!
My sister was so ready for the 4 year old to be done, but just one day he said, "I don't want diapers" and that was the end of i5.\

My son will be 3 in August and has zero interest. I'd like him to be completely done with diapers by fall, but I do not want to push the issue and make it a negative experience.

Re: What age do your boys PL?

Josh learned just after his 2nd birthday. Noah was just before his 3rd. Jonah turned 3 in January. Two days ago he told me he had to go potty. (we've been working on it but I haven't pushed him). At that point I told him we have no more diapers, just underwear. lol He's been doing very well though. Only one accident yesterday and so far none today.

Overnight will be a different story though. He was soaked when he woke up this morning (he wore a pull up to bed)

I took flak too about Jonah. I simply replied that I'll let him decide when he is ready rather than me cleaning messes off the floor and fighting with him about the toilet. We have plenty of other things to fight about

Re: What age do your boys PL?

Around 18 or 20 months (don't really remember), it was quick and smooth. I think if we waited till he was 2 we would have had to wait till he turned 3 and "decided" for himself becuase once he was 2 he developed this sense of autonomy that made it very difficult for me to impose my will on him. DS #2 is 18 months and definitely showing me that he is ready...

ETA: DS #1 PT'd for nights at the same time as days. He would just jump out of bed in the middle of the night by himself and go pee, then go right back to sleep. After a few weeks, he just held it through the night.

Re: What age do your boys PL?

My ds is 20 months and shows a lot of interest. He loves to go potty on the potty chair. We are working on it, although this is my first so I am a little clueless on how to do it. My mom said looks like he is going to make it easy on me though.

Kolten is 21 mos. and shows no interest at all. I'm fine with it though, I'd rather wait til he's more ready and verbal. My little girl even took awhile to PL, she was 3 yrs. 1 mo. when she finally went to panties 24/7.

So far.. a couple months shy of 5 (yes, 5) for ds1 and almost 3.5 for ds2. DS 3 is almost 3.5 now and will occasionally take his diaper off to use the potty.

Re: What age do your boys PL?

Kain was exactly 2.5yo. He had semi-trained a couple of months earlier and then just quit...and one day I was talking to my grandma about how I didn't know why he wouldn't just do it...ya know, that he knew how, when, everything..but just refused. He just needed to make that decision for himself. When I hung up with her, he wanted underwear on and we haven't looked back since! He was ready & it was just super-easy. A couple of months after he trained, I called a daycare/preschool to ask about their rates and stuff...and she was SHOCKED that he was completely trained. I've heard that 3-4 is completely normal for boys.

Re: What age do your boys PL?

My DS was was 3 1/2. He wanted to go to preschool, and he had to be potty learned. So I guess it was enough motivation for him!!!!
