wanting ot BF my baby...
but the only true support I have is from DH and his mom. My mom and sisters are totally against it. They think it is gross and not worth the hastle. So everytime I bring it up they put me down. I feel this is frustrating and makes me want to give up instead of try harder. I am planning on getting preggo in the near future and bf my other two didn't work out so I am thinking some of it might be because it is the lack of support. What can I do to get them on my side about it or at least let it not bother me so much?

Re: wanting ot BF my baby...
You have to tell them you ARE. Then just do it. Seriously. My mom is totaly anti cloth. Oh well, not her kids or laundry. You are the mom, not your mom. If they hasle you tell them this is the choice you made and you do not want to hear about it, period.

Join a La Leche League!! They're a great place to get practical breastfeeding help, meet other b/f moms, and even just having the phone #'s of the leaders close to where you live is GREAT, you can call with any questions and they'll help.

WOW.. some people sure are ignorant!!! BF your child is one of the most WONDERFUL things you can do for your child and for yourself! Its uplifting and gratifying!! Speaking of things not worth the hassle.. formula is just NOT WORTH IT.. its expensive, time consuming and MESSY! Just remind them that you will NEVER have to wash a bottle, never have to shake a bottle or warm it or mix it or PAY FOR IT.. Your body knows exactly how to make milk that is the PERFECT recipe for your child!!! Plus, you never have to wash your boobs out, there is no mess and its all FREE!!! Just ignore them, do what you know is right and they will someday (hopefully) see how right you are.. don't let them stop you from doing the right thing for your child! HUGS

Re: wanting ot BF my baby...
It is hard that you don't have enough support. I am so sorry. But at least your DH and mom are on your side, so that is good. By breastfeeding your child you are doing such a wonderful thing, all the benifets are going to last him/her a life time.
Some people are just eneducated about things, that have misconceptions, becuase they don't know. Like when I started co-sleeping I got your going to spoil that child, etc, etc, etc. After I did it though, and they relized that my child was totally normal, no harm done, not spoiled one bit, they stopped w/ those comments. By you breastfeeding your child, you might just get to show your sisters how loving and wonderful it is. You might just sway thier opinion, once they get to know what it is about. And perhaps w/ a child of thier own, they might just plan to breastfeed after seeing what a wondeful breastfeeding relationship you have w/ your child. They might just say to themselves after it is all said and done, I can't believe I ever though that, how silly of me. But it takes things to change peoples minds and this might just be it.
