Smile Twinbit Update

Had my (final ) MW appt today. I only cried once.

It was actually really good, though; we went through a list of OB's in the area, discussed various hospitals, etc. Dawn (MW) was great, she took time to describe each of the OB's styles, personalities, what she's seen working with them and heard from moms, etc.

My choice is a female OB who practices at the hospital where I gave birth to Joey, it's 30 minutes from where I live and the nursing staff is GREAT. It's a smaller hospital so there's not as much pressure for some of the routine interventions. Anyway, the OB is pro-vaginal-twin-birth assuming the positions are good, and doesn't push pain meds if you don't want them. She's open to avoiding an episiotomy if possible. And BEST of all -- she had HER baby WITH A MIDWIFE!!

So, while my ideal scenario obviously won't be happening (ie., home water birth with midwife), I'm feeling a bit more optimistic that I might get at least some of what I want in this birth...and hopefully two sweet healthy babes!

ETA: My MW will remain as "supportive care" - ie., I can go visit her for emotional support, clarification if I'm confused by OB stuff, etc., and she'll be at the birth.

Just wanted to update you all, you've been so awesome and supportive!

Re: Twinbit Update

Sounds awesome! I had a great lady OB who really supported most of my desires with my second childs birth. Hope you will feel as happy with her as I did with mine.

Re: Twinbit Update

Sorry it's not exactly what you wanted, but I'm glad you and your mw were able to find such a good alternative.

BTW, my friend delivered her twins vaginally and they were her first kids, so that can work out just fine. for you.

Re: Twinbit Update

Awesome! Do you plan on having another U/S to try and determine the gender of the twins?
