Re: babies get bigger with each pregnancy?
well I am not completely sure as my DS was born at 41 weeks and weighed 8lbs1oz and then my DD was born at 39 weeks and was 7lbs 15oz. So I think that if I had gone another 2 weeks then she would have been almost 9lbs.
It is true in my moms case DD=7LBS7OZ DD=7lbs14oz DS=9lbs3oz DS=9lbs13oz DD=me 10lbs3oz DS=10lbs13oz So in her case they were bigger with each one |

Re: babies get bigger with each pregnancy?
I like bigger babies. they settle better in the pelvis, are less likely to turn into funky positions, and are easier to birth from most women's accounts. Some women, especially those with borderline blood sugar issues, do have babies that get bigger and bigger. Mine have not. Mine were:
DS 8# 14 oz DS 8# 9 oz DD 8# DD 7# 2 oz DD 7# 10 oz DD 7# 7 oz I think this one is pretty small too. Nutrition and exercise play a role, as do genetics. Please don't be afraid of the "big bad baby". big babies are nothing to fear. A 10# baby can have a smaller head than a 9# baby. The baby is also no more likely to get stuck if they are bigger. 50% of shoulder dystocia babies are less than 8 pounds. Big baby usually means more body fat weight and fat squishes. No BIG deal!

Re: babies get bigger with each pregnancy?
I think it depends on a lot of factors. My kids were:
#1 5lb 4oz 18.5" at 39w4d (due to partial placental abruption that was undetected, 1/2 the placenta was detached) #2 6lb 13oz 19" at 40w6d #3 6lb 1oz 18" at 38w3d My moms kids were: DD #1 (me) 6lb8oz 20" (40w2d) DD #2 between 5lb 8oz & 6lb1oz (3wks early, not sure on weight because she was taken immediately after birth due to birth defects) DDs #3 & 4 (twins) 5lb6oz & 5lb15oz (born within days of their due date so 39wks+)

Re: babies get bigger with each pregnancy?
This hasn't been true with my babies.
DD - 7 lbs 3 ozs DS - 9 lbs 2 ozs DD - 7 lbs 10 ozs DD - 9 lbs 13 ozs Praying this one is not any bigger than my last baby. OUCH, now that was hard and painful! Labor was only 1 hour with her too. I was so tired after pushing her that I couldn't turn around to see her for the first couple minutes. I had to have my DH and mom help me just turn around. |
