Preggo while teaching??? Any tips?

Hi!
I am about 7 weeks and I am currently having a TON of all day morning sickness....which is a problem because I'm currently student teaching, and I can't really rush out of the room whenever I feel like, KWIM? So, are there any teacher mama's out there with tips? Any would be appreciated, even if not morning sickness related. Thanks!!!!!

Be open and honest with the teacher you're working with. I had to leave the room plenty of times when I was preggo with dd and teaching. Thankfully, I had an AMAZING assistant, who helped cover for me when I needed a few minutes. If you're student teaching, the teacher should be in the room most of the time. Just let her know what's going on and she'll probably understand and help you out. Hope you feel better soon! And congrats on being almost done with school!

Thanks! She knows and she is great (I had to tell her today, I was worried that she'd think I was bulimic lol). I just feel guilty having to leave, because I know if I was a "real" teacher without any other adults in the room, I couldn't just leave......So I guess I was hoping someone would have ideas, or some experiences to share like you . Thanks for the advice!!

I'm not a teacher but I am a nurse and have dealt with all day sickness with both pregnancies. I totally understand not being able to run out all the time. I always knew where trashcans were outside of my patient rooms and kept a bag on me at all times. Get a hold of your MW/OB and get started on some meds too. I kept mints with me so I could pop them in before going back into my patients rooms. I hope it ends soon for you.

I am a teacher...when I was in my first trimester I let my principals know how "sick" I was...I let them know that I might have to rush out of the room...I said that I would flag down my teaching partner in the classroom next door on the way to the washroom...and she would keep an eye on both our classes until I came back...everyone was fine with it...I think it is better to go out of the room then to stay in the room and make the kids upset...I am sure everyone will understand!

I am a teacher. It can get pretty miserable! I try to have a few written activities already copied off for when I hit a wall and need to sit down for a few minutes. I have 43 kids in my afternoon class with no aides or anyone else on my hallway, so leaving is NOT an option. I figured if I puked, the kids would just have to see it. I was so glad to hit the end of first trimester!!!

Thanks for all the great tips!!! I'm lucky right now to have such an understanding teacher, but I keep thinking about future kids and anything I haven't thought of yet as far as that goes. Hopefully I won't run into these issues as much in the future!! Yeah, right, but here's to hoping lol

I had a lot of saltine crackers at my desk...and did some teaching from the seating position.

Thankfully I didn't have ms too bad and was able to "function"

Re: Preggo while teaching??? Any tips?

When I was teaching, I lived on Triscuits and seltzer for 2 months. And I didn't tell anyone except my coteacher (she was next door, 2 special ed classrooms). Crystallized ginger is supposed to help, and any kind of hard candy, particularly sour ones like jolly ranchers. At the end, I just kept my feet up and tried to move as little as possible...I really wanted to just be rolled around in my rolling teacher chair!
