Thanks for the search links. I'm looking into those now!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE and have on my "list":
Selah (but I think I would pronounce it "SAY-lah")
Abigail
Shiloh

But my list is much longer than DH's list. *sigh* We'll get there one day! And the list only really has to have one name on it, right!?
Oh I like that. I wonder if I can convince our friends to pronounce it that way instead. Just kidding Seriously though I like that pronounciation.

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names

I love Ester, Jude, and Zipporah. I think Ester is cute for a little girl, yet nice for a woman. As the mama above suggested, I also really like Moria. Oh, I know, Ester Moria "very long and foreign" last name.

My DH and I had planned to name our children with biblical names but we never could agree on a name we liked the sound of and the meaning. So, we went with old names. We have 3 wonderful boys: Shafer, Corwin, and Lyndle. All of their middle names are family names. My DH and I are really big on name meanings. We feel that since God changed peoples names in the Bible, then name meanings matter.

Agree totally.

We also have family-honoring names as middle names.

And for everyone voting "Moriah," I think it's a beautiful name but I already have nieces named Moriah and Mariah...so no go.

I really like Zipporah. It would really go with our crazy last name.

I asked DH about "Jochebed", which as a bonus means "gift of God." He just rolled his eyes. I took that as a maybe.

I really like Selah, Grace, and Eden. I also know a little girl named Ariel. Its actually a boys name in the Bible meaning Lion of God. Kinda cute and she'd LOVE it when about 3 and getting into princesses. LOL My Daughter is Annabelle- the Anna part is gracious in Hebrew and my little guy is Carson- meaning Christian in German. I kind of like that they're both meaningful names but not your typical Bible names...there are like 10 kids named Caleb were we go to church.

I really love Eliana. Beautiful name.

There's always Elizabeth and Esther. Or you could use Elisha (God will save me). I know a woman named Elisha and she pronounces it like Alycia. Oh, or Elise, which comes directly from Elizabeth meaning "oath of God."

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names

I'm having the same problems with a name! We really want it to be biblical, but not common, which is why we chose Solomon for DS. We are leaning towards Esther right now though. I like Selah a lot too, I haven't considered that one. I also like Naomi and Abigail but I have friends with those names and I want something no one I know has you know? My pastor has 5 girls named Faith, Grace, Mercy, Glory, and Patience which I think is really cute! I've also always like Liberty, Melody, Harper, and Piper, which can all be sort of biblical/spiritual. DH really likes Ariel too.

Ah, I love Eliana!!! Where were you with this suggestion when I was naming my dd?!?!

She's named Anna (which I do like), but she would have made a good Ellie, too.
