Re: Baby name help - Biblical names

college friends of mine named their first little girl Isaiah Grace...I think they almost always say both names together. They also call her Zaya (I-saiah[zaya]). It's cute, but not for everyone

Not sure if these were mentioned yet because I don't have time right now to read through all the posts.

These are a few names dh and I considered before we knew DS3 was a boy.

Elisheva (Hebrew-Elizabeth-pronounced El-uh-she-vuh)

Sarai (Hebrew-Sarah-pronounced Suh-rye)

Rivkah (Hebrew-Rachael-Pronounced Riv-kuh)

I saw where one mom on DS had named her DD Neveah, because it is heaven backwards.

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names

I had a hard time finding a girl bible name that I liked...I wanted unique also. I landed on sydney in a round about way...It means wide pasture or plain...kind of uninspiring, especially since I look at name meanings first, then the actual name. But I started thinking of Psalms 23 and green pastures and rest and peace with our shepherd and thought I could make that work for me. I was kind of desperate for an Eden with our most recent baby (got an elijah who is my wonderful little man), but I wanted Lily as a middle name and while I liked Eden Lily in general, it suddenly reminded me of the oh-da-la-le song from teh old disney Robin Hood with the animals.

I also liked Adriel - Follower of God

and Azariah - the help of God
i'm thinking azariah would have been pronounced ah-zuh-RYE-uh...but I would have made it a little more feminine and modern uh-ZAHR-iah

I think this link has literally every bible name...

Oh yeah! I love the name Jael! I thought I was the only one though. Nice to know someone else likes it too. =)

My sister named my niece Selah, pronounced Say-lah. Very pretty And her second daughter is Keziah. I think the true pronunciation is keh-ZI-uh i like 'eye', but they say KEH-zee-uh. Cute either way!

Love the name Jael but sadly we know several. Also, with a Phinehas already we thought it might be a bad trend to name them all bludgeoning names since they were the only two we like and what about the rest of our kids? LOL

Laughed so hard at this that my kids came running from another room to check on me. So funny!

I, too, like the name, Jael. However, one of my cousin's has a daughter and her middle name is Jael...and...well...I don't like the name so much anymore. I hate it when that happens.

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names

Zoe is Greek for spiritual life--I believe it's the word used in the verse, "I've come that they might have life and have it more abundantly" We counted it as a Biblical name
