Re: Baby name help - Biblical names

My little one's name is [*deleted*]. Her name in Hebrew means "God's gift of light to me". we also believe strongly in meanings. And when we learned she had massive heart problems when I was 23 weeks pregnant, we knew God would heal her eventually. Her problems got more complicated by each visit to the specialist throughout my pregnancy, and when I had her, they found enlarged ventricles, a thickened septum, a septal leaflet, a hole in her heart, and a thickened/roughed wall in one of her ventricles. But God gave us her name for a reason. 8 days later she fell asleep for TWO DAYS. She could not be woken. She was admitted to the hospital and they performed another echo. HEALED. 100%. Certainly our little "gift" from God.

I'm not one for telling people to use my kiddos' names (I like to be unique), but I know what it's like to know what you want in a name and not be able to find it. So I'm sharing ours Good luck mama! (

P.S. I will prob come back and delete this post later, because I don't like having my kids' first and middle names out there on the net!

Thank you for sharing your daughter's name with me. But more than that, thank you for sharing her story. What an amazing God who cares for us beyond our wildest dreams!

How did you find that name?

BTW, go ahead and delete. I understand what you mean about privacy.

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names

Well, I had posted a thread similar to yours on here towards the end of my pregnancy, because we JUST. COULD NOT. FIND. THE name....we were cutting it really close. Someone had suggested Liora and we fell in love with it. I mentioned that I wanted a Hebrew name and a meaning that would relate to what we had been through and what we were praying for. And the name and meaning lined up. I love Hebrew names that start with E--and I always loved Eliana, but that name is QUICKLY gaining popularity, and I just couldn't go that route (we were being "unique" when we named our son [*deleted*]!!--haha) again. So anyway, I was scrolling through a hebrew baby name website that another mama on here gave me and searched under "E" and her name came up--with the same meaning as Liora. It was just a variation of it. I immediately said, "THAT'S IT!!!" We never had to discuss it after that--we knew if it was a girl, her name would be that. With the middle name of "hope", because we had hope that God would heal her and that He who began a good work in her, would carry it on to completion (Phil 1:5-7). Her little heart has been such an incredible testimony...I've had friends tell me that they have shared her testimony with others and brought them to tears. I have seen it bring both an agnostic and an atheist to their knees. We truly believe God gave us her name.

Well, you'll have to tell me now if you use her name

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names

I like names in the Bible after strong people. Now, my DH did not like any of them...but I like Esther and Ruth- such awesome women. Any variation of Mary, but I really like Madonna. Hopefully the singer Madonna will be faded out by the time our children are old enough to be compared. I love Josephine, because it is the feminine form of Joseph who is my favorite saint.
You could try looking up who the saint is on her due date...or who the patron saint is of....something you feel is important to her or your family.

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names

My sister recently ran across this name for a girl - if you like "out of the ordinary" names.

The girl's name Beulah is from the Bible and is pronounced BYOO-lah. It is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Beulah is "bride". Biblical: a name symbolic of the heavenly Zion. Used to refer to Israel, and in John Bunyan's "The Pilgrim's Progress", Beulah is the promised land.

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names

I am sure your little one has arrived and I am sure here name was perfect for her. I also have 3 children with old testament names. I have a Rachael, Noah, Micah and my husband has a Sarah from his first marriage.

I have some other names I loved that we will not use but you may want for your collection. I did not see them mentioned in the post.

I loved Asa. My Micah was almost an Asa. This is an old testament king but I have heard it used for a girl as well.

I know a woman named Bethel. She says she knows three. I think it is cool.

I think Ezra has been mentioned but I like that it is not over done.

Thanks for a great post and a very inspiring blog. It has inspired me to be a better mom.

Sheila
