What's a Common Misconception People Have of You?

That because I am pretty social, I have time to invite EVERYONE to EVERYTHING. Sometimes its nice to hang with just one other mama, not 3-8! I get the cold shoulder if someone finds out i hung with someone else...... Wheres MY invite to hang? LOL.

Also, that I am shy.. Even though I am social. It comes in spurts. lol.

People cant believe I am 31 with 6 kids...then they ask if I am Mormon or catholic, when I tell them Buddhist they say Buddhists don't have children...

People think i'm a REALLY young mom. like i must have started when I was 13-14. I was talking to these people behind me at a store about a movie I was planning on taking my 8 yr old to and they looked really shocked. They were speechless. It was really funny. Usually people assume I'm about 20...I'm 28.
When my oldest, Nolan, was about 3 someone at a park referred to me as his big sister. Nolan was really confused and I just laughed. I was 3-4 months pregnant with his little sister too. Better to look young than old

I am biracial (white and black, non-hispanic). Most people don't think about the white part . They only assume that I am some kind of minority, whatever one they are most used to stereotyping or so it seems.

I am forever talking to people who think I must have grown up poor and/or on welfare in some ghetto somewhere, or was the first person in my family to go to college, know people in jail, etc.

That by far is my most common misconception. It is tedious to say the least, but I understand the "not gotten out much/not had much diversity/ no chance to ask crazy questions" scenario. I pretty much set them straight without getting all offended over the whole thing. I'm too old for that **** now anyway.

people think that im mean and rude. i dont think much of myself, but i do know that i am none of those. i would give you the shirt off my back or my last buck if you needed it. give me a chance people... im not a bad person.

That because I am from Texas I am a Dallas Cowboys fan and listen to Country Music

That I am alot younger than I look, and people usually act surprised when they find out I have a nine year old, I am 28...also on that same point that because I do look so young they think my one year old is my first child, and I love seeing the look on their faces when I tell them no he does in fact have a brother eight years older than he is

That I'm stuck up because:

1. I don't like to hang out with people that are just going to sit around and drink. I don't drink and don't see a point in being surrounded by people who can't hold their liquor.

2. I won't let someone's younger cousin that I just met two minutes prior watch my kids at the park while I sit around talking to adults who have better things to do than watch their own kids. These people don't pay attention to their kids to the point where they have left them playing in the beach while they go off on walks/who knows what and expect the lifeguards to watch the kids. Total strangers have had to provide assistance to their kids when they've gotten hurt/scared at the beach because mommy and daddy were busy.

That The Hubby and I think we're better than other people because we don't like spending every single free minute we have at a party/beach with everyone else. These people have actually told my husband that being around family is boring. They don't realize that some of us enjoy our families and want to spend time as a family.

That The Hubby is my father. He is ten years my senior and prematurely grey and I look young. We have had so many people confuse him with my dad (you should see how their eyes pop out when they hear the kids call me mom and him dad OR when they see us kissing ).

That I'm made of money. I have had no less than 20 birthday party invites from people I or my children have never even heard about much less met. All they want is my presence there to give their kids presents because they know I give good stuff (when you know how to shop, it's easy). These are all people who hang out with people we know (the ones who can't hold their liquor). They always look for excuses to get together and drink and only invite me/my kids for the presents as they know we won't be partaking in their "refreshments."

And yeah, maybe I am stuck up or think I'm better than other people. But maybe it's just that I like my children and want them to be safe, kwim?

There are so many! I get carded all the time and questioned about my kids because people think I am younger than I am (I'm 25)
People thing I'm a bad person/selfish/strange/crazy for having four kids and wanting at least one more, for cloth diapering, for wanting to breastfeed, for using organic/cooking all of our meals and for meal planning/stock piling and couponing.
I'm cheap/rude/a low life for refusing to pay full price for anything, using coupons, stock piling and saying no to fund raisers that we just can not afford to spend money on
I'm easy because I have four kids with three different fathers, that I'm immature, oh the list goes on with this one.
That I am on welfare, again because I have four kids
That I have no goals in life other than to be a mom, trust me I have plenty and am working hard towards them.
That I'm in a gang, go to bars constantly or am in the "tough crowd" because I have tattoos, in reality I am the biggest wuss ever and very rarely go to bars
