Most of my family thinks its pretty cool and is totally supportive, but my husbands family is not so much. His grandma thinks were going to give our baby a complex...My advice...first you have to understand why they are reluctant to think positively about it. The obvious one is ignorance, which that can easily be fixed with some info, but the other is when your talking about how they want to go potty and people just don't respond to their communications, some parents feel guilty they didn't listen and want to deny their babies had that desire. Also, my husbands parents have 4 year old twins (next month theyll be 4) and theyre still not potty trained. Not surprisingly they don't seem too excited about EC (my 3 month old uses the potty more than them). Try to inform them on the philosophy of EC and if they still react with disapproval know its probably because of one of those reasons and not because of you.
