I have no idea what I'm doing!

I'm sure that statement is not new to this forum. I just wanted to say hi and ask forgiveness for asking any newbie questions. I'm 7 months along with my first, and I know I want to use cloth. It just makes more sense period. But there are so many options and it seems like no matter what type/style you go for you've got a 50/50 shot of having to switch anyway.

My current game plan: While Liam is newborn

12-20 prefolds
4-6 covers
15 fleece liners for extra absorption if needed.

Once he out grows the newborn phase:
Switch to pocket diapers where I can use the prefolds for extra padding.

Would LOVE advice on brands though!

welcome! it's all confusing at first but it gets easier after some experience using cloth. I made the switch earlier this year and still love it!

Re: I have no idea what I'm doing!

Welcome! Your plan sounds like what I did. My youngest dd is now 3 months and we are slowly switching to pockets. We used prefolds and covers from day one, still use them here and there but i'm really liking the bumGenius and fuzzibunz dipes

Re: I have no idea what I'm doing!

Welcome! Sounds like a good plan.

However, fleece liners are not absorbant.

I'd recommend at least 24 prefolds, they go through A LOT more than you think!

I also recommend Bumgenius 4.0 pockets - they fit really well and hold up great.

Re: I have no idea what I'm doing!

you can always try a few OS! most of them will fit after a few weeks. i got prefolds and covers to start too and am biting my nails waiting for all my OS pockets to fit (and doing lots of math [5oz. in 6 days equals about one pound every three weeks so blueberrys will fit beginning of december?])

Re: I have no idea what I'm doing!

Welcome. I would have at least 2 dozen prefolds and 6 to 8 covers. Your probably going to have to handwash the covers so I would recommend getting some like proraps or thirsties. They will air dry quickly.
